What about the wild mustangs still free on the Great Plans? Onager or Asiatic Wild Ass? Zebras? The Assateague Island Ponies? Lab Animal Learning Options AALAS Learning Library: AALAS Learning Library is online learning with free and fee- based courses. As a side benefit, many local lab animal associations offer access by joining their membership for approximately $25/year if users want access to all of the learning materials. Upon completion, you can download certificates. CITI Program: CITI is online learning with free and fee-based courses. By registering with your DVU email address, you have the potential to unlock many courses. Upon completion, you can download completion certificates. Purdue Rat Tickling Certification: Rat tickling is a handling technique that was developed to study play and mimics rat rough-and-tumble play by using a human hand to playfully “wrestle” a rat. The free course developed by Purdue University teaches users with an option to get a completion certificate at the end of the course. Refined Mouse Handling Course: Refined mouse handling is a handling technique that are methods ae used instead of picking up mice by the tail. The free course developed by NC3R’s teaches users the science and methodology behind the practice. Due to its newness, a certificate of completion is not available at this time. Lab Animal Learning Options ALAT: Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician: First level of Lab Animal Technician certification with an optional registry program to show completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Qualifications vary based on your level of education, but with a 4-year degree you only need your employer(s) confirmation of 6 months of work LAT: Laboratory Animal Technician: Second level of Lab Animal Technician certification for Technicians with an optional registry program to show completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs)Qualifications vary based on your level of education, but with a 4-year degree you only need your employer(s) confirmation of 1 year of work or after 6 months of passing the ALAT LATG: Laboratory Animal Technologist: Third level of certification for Lab Animal Technicians. Qualifications vary based on your level of education, but with a 4-year degree you only need your employer(s) confirmation of 3 years of work or after 6 months of passing the LAT. Lab Animal Learning Options CMAR: Certified Manager of Animal Resources: It is a minimum of 3 exams (AALAS new method) or 4 exams (partnership with ICPM), must have Lab Animal Experience, and there is a mandatory registry program to show completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Failure to maintain listing in registry, may be forced to take all exams over again. Qualifications vary based on your level of education and supervisory work experience. ILAM: Institute for Laboratory Animal Management: 2-year training program for members of the Lab Animal Field, Developed to enhance communication, team building, and networking among colleagues with mutual interests. Upon completion of the two- year program, each student will receive a certificate recognizing his/her successful completion of the program. Certified Professional in IACUC Administration: Working in IACUC is possible for anyone with an interest/passion for high quality of animal welfare and ensuring compliance. IACUC Professionals have a wide variety of degrees. Once passing the exam, recertification is required to maintain the credentials and qualifications vary based on your level of education Certification & Learning with Wildlife Conservation  Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator (CWR): Through the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (IWRC), provides a reliable validation of training and experience that will accelerate professional development and enhance credibility. Certification shows permitting agency personnel, veterinarians, grant organizations, members of the public, and your fellow rehabilitators that you are committed to professionalism and providing the highest quality care.  National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association: NWRA is a nonprofit educational organization like AALAS  International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council: IWRC is a nonprofit educational organization like AALAS Accreditations & Learning with Zoos  AZA Accreditation: Association of Zoos & Aquariums ensures members AZA's standards for animal welfare, care, and management, including living environments, social groupings, health, and nutrition. Every animal at AZA-accredited institutions undergoes a thorough welfare assessment at least once a year.  ZAA Accreditation: Zoological Association of America is a rigorous process that includes an extensive application and site inspection.
