- The scheme is issued by the Signal and Telecom Directorate, Research, Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO), Ministry of Railways, and is effective from 15.03.2024.
- The document outlines the procedure for the Site Acceptance Test of Stationary KAVACH (Indian Railway Automatic Train Protection System) as per RDSO/SPN/196/2020 Version 4.0.
Pre-Test Preparation
- Installation of Stationary KAVACH equipment, associated sub-assemblies, and interfaces must be completed.
- Field Input Relay wiring must be completed, and Bell test copy must be available.
- All RFIDs must be installed in the section under test before carrying out tests.
- Installation of Radio Tower, antennae, antenna cables, tower box, and power wiring for the entire equipment must be completed.
- RSSI and OHE mast survey must be completed.
- Adjacent Stationary KAVACH connectivity must be established on a redundant vital network.
- TSRMS connectivity must be established on a redundant vital network, if TSR is to be tested.
- RIU wiring must be complete.
- SMOCIP must be installed.
- NMS details must be programmed and connected to the test Stationary KAVACH.
Verification of Field Inputs
- Electronic Interlocking and KAVACH NMS time difference must be noted before relay events testing.
- There should be no difference ideally.
Communication Coverage Report-Phase-1
- Switch off radio transmission of adjacent stations and carry out these tests.
- The graphical coverage report shall be submitted for each frequency.
Transmission and Reception Tests
- Transmission side (Control Frequency) and Transmission side (Operational Frequency) tests must be carried out.
- Reception side (Control Frequency) test must be carried out.
- The results of these tests must be tabulated, including Stationary KAVACH ID, Tx Communication Mandatory area, Tx Frequency, Tx reception, and Is distance more than Communication mandatory Area?
LC Gate Information Testing
- If any level crossing gate is available in the route, the same shall be tested and tabulated.
- The table must include REF RFID, ENTRY, EXIT, Start Distance, LC gate, LC gate Type, and Observation (Ok/Not Ok).
Train Length Measurement Testing
- These tests are aimed to check whether train length is updated properly after every block section entry.
- When the communication mandatory area is 1.5 Km or more beyond the last stop signal, the train length details are to be sent by handing over Stationary KAVACH.
- When the communication mandatory area is within 1.5 Km after the last stop signal, the train length details are to be sent to accepting Stationary KAVACH, which informs Onboard KAVACH.
Functional Test Reports-Phase 2
- These tests are to be carried out on a real train with brakes functioning and shall be submitted to ISA and PCSTE for sanction.
- KAVACH SPAD Prevention test reports, KAVACH Rear End collision test reports, and KAVACH Head ON collision test reports must be submitted.
KAVACH SPAD Prevention Test Reports
- The report must include Stationary KAVACH ID, Entry Signal, Exit Signal, Stopping Distance from Exit Signal, Is Day/night speed, Is any Safety infringement observed?, and Is any Capacity Loss observed?
KAVACH Rear End Collision Test Reports
- The report must include Stationary KAVACH ID, Entry Signal, Exit Signal, Stopping Distance from Exit Signal, Is any Safety infringement observed?, and Is any Capacity Loss observed?
- The rear loco will always be in OS Mode.
KAVACH Head ON Collision Test Reports
- One of the Onboard KAVACH will be in SR Mode, and direction shall be available and shall be moving in opposite to traffic direction in Accepting Stationary Kavach territory.
- The other loco can be in FS/OS/SR mode with direction available.
