- Absences due to genuine illness or non-work-related injuries are eligible for sick leave.
Sick Leave Approval and Notification
- Sick leave can be used in hourly increments for non-job-related health issues including:
- Illness or injury incapacitating the employee.
- Contagious illness jeopardizing co-worker health.
- Medical appointments that cannot be scheduled off-duty.
- Caring for an immediate family member without alternative care options.
- Employees must report absences as outlined in PPM FR-A-206.
Return to Work Protocol
- Operations employees must receive approval from the Fire Operations Officer to return from sick leave.
- One-time return to work allowed per shift; unit assignment determined by the Fire Operations Officer.
