- Needs are things we cannot do without to survive, also known as primary needs.
- Examples of primary needs: food, clean water, housing, clothing, and sanitation/hygiene.
Basic Needs of Individuals
- Food: a variety of foods including fruit, vegetables, bread, rice, fish, meat, and nuts.
- Clothing: for warmth and protection from the elements.
- Shelter: provides protection from the cold, heat, and other weather conditions.
- Water: must be clean enough to drink.
- Sanitation/Hygiene: to manage waste and keep living spaces clean and hygienic.
Basic Needs of Families
- Safety and Security: protection from dangers.
- Provision: providing food and other basic needs to family members.
- Relaxation: rest, relaxation, and enjoyment of activities together.
