Moral Character Application

• The moral character application requires disclosure of all debt that is delinquent at the time of submission.
• Applicants must disclose all incidents of student loan default, even if the loan is current at the time of application submission.

Credit Report

• If an applicant discloses a current student loan in default or delinquent debt, they must provide a complete credit report (not just a credit score summary).
• Indebtedness or bankruptcy does not necessarily affect a moral character determination, but irresponsible debt handling or fraudulent bankruptcy may raise issues.

Disciplinary History

• Applicants must disclose undergraduate and law school discipline, including violations of honor codes, academic probation, suspension, expulsion, or resignation.

Military Discharge

• A military discharge “under” or “other than” honorable conditions or a “dishonorable” discharge may affect a moral character determination.

Admissions Applicant Portal

• If an applicant is unable to log in, they should try resetting their password and contacting the Office of Admissions if necessary.
• Use a personal email address (not a law school or work email address) for the application to ensure access to communications.
• Applicants can correct or update information in their moral character application before submission by editing certain fields or uploading a document with correct information.
• Uploaded documents cannot be deleted, but applicants can upload a statement identifying the document and indicating if it should be deleted.

Moral Character Investigation

• The duration of a moral character investigation varies (typically a minimum of 180 days) and may be affected by the volume of applications and timely responses.

Updates and Documents

• Applicants have a continuing duty to update their responses within 30 days of any changes or new information relevant to the application.
• Update the application by logging into the Applicant Portal and posting an update or uploading a document (preferably a PDF, with a 25 MB upload limit).

Processing Times

• Applications are considered individually, and processing times may vary due to the complexity of an applicant’s history.
• Submitting a moral character application early is recommended, ideally before the start of the last year of law study.
