    Study Notes

    Monthly Inspection

    • Park the loaded vehicle on flat level ground with wheels pointed straight and ensure parking brake is applied and wheels are chocked.
    • Inspect the gap between the Rubber Axle Stop and spring, which should be between 1/16” and 1/2”. If outside of this range, drive cautiously and re-measure.
    • If the gap is > 1/2”, place the vehicle out of service and contact CMF. If < 1/16” or the Rubber Axle Stop is touching, submit a defect report.

    Brake Pads

    • Bendix ADB22X Disc brake pads must be replaced at 11mm (approximately 7/16”).
    • Meritor DiscPlus EX225 Disc brake pads must be replaced at 3mm (approximately 1/8”).

    • Stainless steel air storage tanks.
    • Air tank drain actuators located on the driver's side beside the wheel chock mount.

    Front Suspension

    • When the vehicle is under stress, front springs flatten and then assume an "S" shape.
    • "S-buffers" in the front suspension stiffen the springs when compressed to reduce undesirable steering reaction during emergency braking.

    Daily Inspection

    • Inspect for loose hardware of the S-Buffer Assembly.
    • Inspect welds and surrounding metal of the S-Buffer Assembly for cracks.
    • Look for signs of failure or tearing of the Rubber Axle Stop.
    • If cracks are found, submit a defect report.
    • If the Rubber Axle Stop is damaged, place the truck out of service and replace it.
