The Hoffman Estates Fire Department has a system for activating and deploying personnel, equipment, and resources from MABAS 1 to a stricken community requesting technical rescue teams within Illinois.

Receiving the Request

Red Center receives the request for a statewide mutual aid response through IEMA.
When MABAS 1 Technical Rescue Team is due to respond, Red Center contacts MABAS 1 Executive Board.

Procedure for Technical Rescue Team Notification

RED Center notifies NWCDS and MABAS 1 Executive Board via Em-Net.
MABAS 1 Executive Board accepts the assignment.
NWCDS accesses the MABAS 1 website and pages out the appropriate groups as identified on the website.
Deployable coordinators/members call NWCDS to indicate availability.
NWCDS updates the MABAS 1 website accordingly, and deployable coordinator monitors status updates.
Once the minimum number of members required is attained, the deployable coordinator selects members to be deployed, updates the MABAS 1 website, and notifies selected members via telephone.

Central Staging and Deployment

All selected technicians report to Elk Grove Village Station 8 at 700 Fargo, allowing for easy access to the interstate system and parking in a fire department parking lot.
Responding personnel and vehicles deploy from this location with proper personal equipment.

Responding Vehicles

Six vehicles respond to a statewide mutual aid incident:
