Subject/Verb Agreement:
- Plural nouns: add 's'
- Singular subjects take singular verbs
- Plural subjects take plural verbs
- Pronouns (I, you, he, she, it):

Irregular verbs: (do, go, have, be)
- Irregular verbs have unique plural and singular forms
- Two or More Subjects Joined by "and": Use a plural verb
- Two or More Subjects Joined by "or" or "nor": Verb agrees with the closest subject.
Indefinite Pronouns
- Some are always singular (e.g., nobody, somebody, anybody, each, everyone)
- Some are always plural (e.g., all, some, both, few, several)
Measurement of Money, Time, or Distance
- Uncountable: Use singular form (e.g., 10,000 dirhams)
Collective Nouns
- Nouns that name a group (e.g., team, swarm, orchestra)
Some Nouns, Though Plural, Are Singular in Meaning
- Nouns that are plural in form but singular in meaning (e.g., Mathematics, mumps)
Relative Pronouns
- Their agreement with the antecedent determines their form (singular/plural).
- Example: The student who works hard will succeed.
- Example: The students who work hard will succeed.
Prepositional Phrases
- The subject of a sentence cannot be part of a prepositional phrase.
Either/Or, Neither/Nor
- The verb agrees with the part of the compound subject closest to it.
Sentences Beginning with "There"
- The subject follows the verb.
Four Types of English Sentences
- Simple: One independent clause (subject + verb/verb phrase)
- Compound: Two or more independent clauses connected by a conjunction (e.g., and, but, or).
- Complex: At least one independent and one or more dependent clauses
- Dependent Clauses: Cannot stand alone as a complete sentence.
Context Clues
- Inference: determining meaning from clues in the surrounding text.
- Definition: Clearly defining an unfamiliar word.
- Example: Providing illustrative examples.
- Antonym: Using opposite terms for clues.
- Synonym: using similar term for clues.
