Through “Bayanihan” we Filipinos become one, as we are raised to be empathetic t owards others, it is in our nature to help. Through disasters, “Bayanihan” becomes a way to save people, as we risk our own lives to help save others’. Through wars, “Bayanihan” has always been a Filipino way of being united, as it helps with raising morale. “Bayanihan”, is not just a way of uniting, it is a tradition, and it helped us Filipinos to go through obstacles that alone we cannot cross. 2. How does the value of "Pagkakaisa" (unity) help Filipinos overcome societal challenges? - The Filipino value of ‘Pagkakaisa’ (unity) plays a crucial role in overcoming societal challenges. It fosters a sense of community and shared purpose, enabling Filipinos to work together towards common goals. Unity empowers individuals to transcend their differences and find common ground, strengthening social cohesion and resilience. When faced with adversity, such as natural disasters or economic hardships, Filipinos often unite to provide mutual support and assistance, demonstrating the power of collective action. Unity also facilitates effective governance and social change, as it enables diverse stakeholders to collaborate and find solutions to pressing issues. Additionally, "Pakikipagkapwa" cultivates empathy by encouraging people to share and understand one another’s feelings, leading to greater compassion and consideration. Being “Makabayan” indicates willingness towards researching which candidate to vote for at the time of election, fighting for our own rights towards our sovereignty and the resources we have, and taking pride in our nationality even when outside the nation. Furthermore, people who are “Makabayan” would produce researchers who would be willing to conduct research examining native resources such that we could preserve and use them and lawmakers who would pass laws that solve relevant societal issues. In other words, having the value “Makabayan”, would create cohesion between Filipinos who would work together and act as one to promote prosperity through diligence and innovations.
