Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 1 What Happens When We Get “Saved?” In order to be successful in this spiritual walk with God, you must become fully educated and strengthened in the knowledge of the scriptures so that your spiritual eyes will illuminate and help you to judge between what is true and what is false according to God’s mind. You must learn how the spirit world functions and operates so you cannot be deceived by the imitations of truths that are presented to you through the word of God. In the beginning, God created the first man Adam and his wife in the image of God. • Genesis 2:7-7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Gen 2:21-24) God gave them a specific law that they were to obey. • Genesis 2:16-17-16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. They both broke the law that God gave them. • Genesis 3:6-6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Whenever we break God’s laws there are penalties to pay. When man broke the law, sin entered into his spirit, soul and body and the law required him to pay a debt. • Romans 5:12-12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: • Romans 6:23-23For the wages of sin is death; Because of Adam’s sin, all of mankind was judged and sentenced to be born as sinners. No one got a pass even us who had not committed any sin at all. • Romans 5:18-18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; • Romans 5:14-14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. The question that we must clearly answer is, what is sin? • Psalm 51:5-5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Sin is iniquity; iniquity is sin. *In these verses when David mentions sin, he is not talking about an action that we commit. Sin is a condition of man’s spirit and heart from birth and God hates that condition. Sin (strong’s#266) Greek word “hermatia”- an evil principle, evil force or inward element producing acts. Why I need to be saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 2 In other words, it is not what you do that makes you a sinner, it is who you are. A sinner sins because that is who they are from birth. There is only one sin unto death and that sin is remaining in the original condition of our natural birth and never coming to repentance before God. • 1John 5:16-17- 16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. When we are born in this condition, God does not listen to us or communicate with us because we are evil and have iniquity inside of our heart. • Psalm 66:18-18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: • John 9:31-31Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. For God to communicate with us or hear our prayers we must be worshippers of God and the only way to become a worshipper of God is to ask God to put his spirit into you. • John 4:24-24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. According to the scriptures, there is only one way to get God’s spirit to come into us. • John 14:6-6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. • Romans 10:9-9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. *This is a mandatory process that everyone must go through in order to change the condition of their spirit and heart from evil to good and this is the entire purpose of the verbal confession of accepting Christ as our sacrifice and our Lord and Savior. Once we confess and believe as Jesus has told us, look at what happens inside of our bodies. • Ezekiel 36:25-26-25Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. After we confess and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, God changes the condition of our spirit and heart by breathing his spirit into us as he did with the first man Adam. Once this happens we are saved and are no longer considered as a sinner or unbeliever but we are now believers and saints according to the Christian faith. • Job 33:4-4The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. • Romans 10:13-13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [Read verse 11] Why I need to be saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 3 *A believer is a person that has voluntarily undergone the process of accepting the death, burial, and resurrection of their old spirit and they now believe that there is a higher power or authority that governs the life inside of their earthly body and that they must learn to live and abide by the laws and commandments of this authority in order to show that they are committed to this faith and that they want to receive the benefits for obeying these rules. • Ezekiel 36:27-27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. • John 14:15-15If ye love me, keep my commandments. Many people say that they love God but the scriptures clearly state that we must not only say this with our mouths but we must live according to a certain set of standards. Only a true believer can live according the laws of God because they have the spirit of God inside of them and this is what enables them to obey the commandments. • John 14:23-23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, Once you ask Jesus to come and live inside of you he sends you a new spirit called by three names which are the Comforter, the Holy Ghost or the Spirit of truth. • John 14:16-16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you FOR EVER; • John 14:17-17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. • John 14:26-26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you Once you have the new spirit, how long does it stay inside of you? If you commit acts of sin after you are saved, does this new spirit ever leave you? Regardless of how you feel or what anyone says, you are saved forever till you leave this earth. • John 14:18-18I will not leave you comfortless: • Hebrews 13:5-5for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22-21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. • Ephesians 4:30-30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Is it possible for you to get unsaved or backslide and become a sinner again after being saved? Why I need to be saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 4 • Ecclesiastes 3:14- 14I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. • John 10:28-29-28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Once we are saved what does it really mean? Saved- one who has committed their life to Christ and is now striving to live a life of holiness and righteousness towards God and man. One who is now qualified to receive eternal life and redemption from any source of damnation to come; once you are saved you cannot go to hell. NOW THAT I AM SAVED IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE LEFT FOR ME TO DO? • 1Timothy 2:4-4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Now that you are saved, you must learn all the necessary rules and strategies that will allow you to be successful in this spiritual life and grow correctly in the spirit. This is a process that Jesus was discussing with Nicodemus in the book of John. • John 3:3-3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. • John 3:5- 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. • John 3:7- 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The process of being born again is not the same as getting saved. Being born again is a 3 step process that is a search for the truth of God’s hidden revelation of what he requires for us to become grown up into the full image of his Son. This 3 step process is also called sanctification. *This process conceals the mystery in which the heart of man is perfected. • 1Thessalonians 4:3-3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, • John 17:17,19-17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. • John 3:5-5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 19And for their sakes I The rules to entering the kingdom of God are completely different from the rules to entering organized religion and traditional church. The entrance into the kingdom of God is not guaranteed nor is it easily obtained but it is possible for those who receive the proper training and guidance. Why I need to be saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] • 5 Matthew 19:24-24And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Many think that the entrance to the kingdom will be given once they know a lot of verses and have memorized the bible, but this is not true. • 1Corinthians 4:20-20For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. • John 5:39-39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: Many Christians run from church to church and from conference to conference looking for the secrets to enter into the kingdom of God but they shall never find it. • Luke 17:20-20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: So all that is left for you to do after you get saved is to find entrance into the Kingdom of God and this is why you must become educated in "hearing, seeing, and searching" out the hidden mysteries of the word of God. Once you accomplish this you will achieve everything that you ever wanted to accomplish in life. I pray that you hear what God is saying to you as you prepare to take the lifelong journey that will transform you forever! Why I need to be saved?
