A principal officer in each of the executive departments **Federalism** -- Shared powers between the federal government and state governments **Jurisdiction** -- An area of authority. **Necessary and Proper/Elastic Clause -** Gives Congress the authority to use powers not explicitly named in the Constitution, if they are necessary in order to perform its responsibilities as outlined in the Constitution. **Impeachment** -- The act of bringing formal charges against a public official. Removing a political figure from power. **Law/Statute** -- A written law passed by Congress. Goes down to local and state governments. **Administrative Agency** - Federal agency that issue rules for how specific laws will be applied and enforced. **Writ of Certiorari** -- A request sent to a lower court asking for all documents on a case. **Jury**- A group of people chosen to decide on innocence or guilt in a court case. **Judge**- A person who rules over cases in a court room.
