Sugar consumption was initially a luxury for Europeans, which incidentally required the slavery of Africans. The "good life" of sugar consumption coincided with the suffering of Africans. Modern life also works in the same manner: our unregulated consumption of goods and the use of non- biodegradable materials in our daily lives affect the comfort of other people, and other organisms in this planet as well. We are living in a culture of wants and excesses. What Is The Good Life? The word ‘good’ has a very different meaning for very many people; however, there are some aspects of ‘the good life’ that most people can probably agree on such as: Material comfort Wellbeing Engagement in meaningful activities/work, Loving relationships (with partners, family, and friends) Belonging to a community. Together, a sense of fulfillment in these and other life domains will lead most people to flourish and feel that life is worth living (Vanderweele, 2017). How to Live The Good Life? Clarifying what is important to you helps 1. Clarify your values invest your life with meaning. 2. Identify valued life Investing in activities in valued life domains domains is intrinsically rewarding. Playing to your strengths helps you 3. Invest in your strengths overcome challenges and achieve your goals leading to greater life satisfaction. How to Live The Good Life? Finally, we all benefit when we set goals and 4.
