Summary
This is a biostatistics test for undergraduate students at the University of Belize. The test covers topics including sampling errors, chi-square tests, and hypothesis testing, and includes sample questions and data tables. The questions involve calculations and interpretations of results on topics such as the average height of students and visits from bird species.

UNIVERSITY OF BELIZE Faculty of Health Science Biostatistics ALHL 2904 Test #3 (80 minutes) Group Name: _____________________________________________ Total Points: ___ / 50 = Date: November 12, 2023 % 1. Suppose the population standard deviation is 0.30 and the sample size is 100. What will the sampling error be at a 95% confidence level? (4 pts) 2. Use the table below to solve the problem below: In a school, a biometric session was organized to check the students’ health. They initiated the session with students of class X standard. In total, there are 30 students in the B division. Among them, 12 students were selected randomly for a detailed check-up, and the rest were only basic tests. The report inferred that the average height of the students in the B division is 154. Find the Standard Deviation and calculate the sampling error using 90% and 95% confidence interval to determine the sampling error. Use the table below. (8 pts) 3. Bird species watchers at a bird feeder observed the frequency of visits by bird species at a bird feeder during a 24-hour period. A chi-square test will be to test whether these observed frequencies are significantly different from what was expected, such as equal frequencies. Find the chi square value and determine whether the null hypothesis would be rejected. (24 pts) Bird species House sparrow House finch Black-capped chickadee Common grackle European starling Mourning dove Observed 15 12 9 8 8 6 Expected 9.67 9.67 9.67 9.67 9.67 9.67 4. A statistician is testing the hypothesis H0: μ = 120 using the approach of alternative hypothesis Hα: μ > 120 and assuming that α = 0.05. The sample values that he took are as n =40, σ = 32.17 and x̄ = 105.37. What is the conclusion for this hypothesis? (14 pts)
