Pg. no. 62 **[I propose:]** We can memorize Quran 1 or 2 ayahs daily, by doing this practice and small steps will enable us to memorize Quran in sha Allah. **[I mention three reasons.....]** - Great & deep love for the Holy book. - Enthusiasm to learn & teach Quran Majeed as it is highly rewarded. - This was the way to preserve the golden words by Almighty, also instructed & taught by the Prophet, peace be upon him. Pg. no. 63 **[I reflect & argue]** The Quran had been preserved in terms of memorization; learning the Quran by heart, as it was memorized by the prophet, peace be upon him & he used to teach his companions & they immediately used to memorize the portions of Quran. Second thing is Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, used to order some companions to write down the revelation to preserve the Divine Book. Pg. no. 64: **[I think & prove:]** Ans:1: Few companions, special writers were appointed on a task to write down the Quran as it descends. All the Quran was written in the presence of the prophet, peace be upon him, & by an order by him since the beginning of the revelation till the last verse. Ans:2: I would have memorized & written Holy Quran & would have taken part in the golden opportunity of preserving & collecting the Holy Quran. **[I infer:]** - The portions of Quran in different places & in different situations. - Some verses of a surah would descend & then they would be interrupted by the descend of other verses before or after this Surah. - Then the revelation would continue with the previous surah & so on until the revelation got completed. However, the Holy Quran was completed in the presence of the Prophet, but it was not collected in one book. **[I reflect & expect:]** - If Abu Bakr As Siddiq (ra) had not taken the advice of Omar ibn Al-Khattab (ra) the Holy Book would not had been preserved in its original form. - The upcoming generations could mix the divine revelation of Quran with their own whims & desires. - Many of the memorizers of the Holy Book were martyred in the battle of Yamama, there was a high risk of loosing the words of Allah along with the loosing of the memorizers of the Holy Book. **[Pg. no. 65]** **[I infer & make a decision:]** **[Ans:1: ]** - I would have compiled The Holy Book from all the available means such as palm branches. - I would have collected the written portions of Qurans from the pieces of delicate stones where it used to be written. - I would have met the people who memorized the Quran & taken the guidance. **[Ans:2: ]** - It was not an easy task to compile & collect the Holy Book from different means such as palm branches, delicate stones where it used to be written, that is why it took 15 months to complete the task, this noble work was done upon the advice of Omar (ra) to Abu Bakr (ra) as it was a need of the hour. Zayd ibn Thabit (ra) was chosen to write it down as he was one of the Prophet's scribers, he was young, active & enthusiastic. He also followed a specific methodology by relying on two sources: - What was written in the presence of the Prophet. - What was memorized by the companions. **[I think & infer: ]** **[I give four reasons.....]** 1. It was keenly & properly compiled with the hard work of day & night along with the approval of the companions who memorized & learned Quran from the Prophet. 2. It was collected in one book (Mushaf) with the verses & chapters arranged in order. 3. It conformed to what was confirmed in the final review of the Holy Quran with Jibril (as). 4. It was compiled by one of the of the Prophet's scribers Zayd ibn Thabit (ra) along with Omar (ra), thus all the companions unanimously agree on the validity & accuracy of the Mushaf. **Aspects of comparison** **Collection of the Quran in the reign of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him** **Collection of the Quran in the reign of Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him** --------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Reason** The first phase of collection from all the available means such as palm branches, delicate stones & from the companions who had memorized the Quran as many were martyred & it was a need of the hour to collect it to preserve it from any probable alterations or being lost. It was collected & copied in one reading style to prevent the people from conflicts & fights for different reading styles. **Outcome** The Quran had been preserved till the day of Judgement for guidance from any probable lost or distortion. The Muslim Ummah (nation) is gathered in one reading style of Quran without conflicts & it had been set a principle for writing Mushafs for upcoming generations.
