CIVIL ENGINEERING AND SOCIETY AND OTHER PROFESSIONS PRESENTED BY: GROUP 1 INTRODUCTION When we hear the word CIVIL ENGINEERING, the thing that comes to our mind is the constructions of houses,buildings ,school,hospital,and other infrastructure The common misconceptions of people about civil engineering is that it only involves erecting buildings and the like, but little did the know,Civil Engineering also includes the construction of paths used for transportation such as roads, highways,expressways,bridge,tunnels,and even railways HOW DO CIVIL ENGINEERS HELP THE SOCIETY ? Civil Engineers design , build, and maintain the foundation for our modern society. Our buildings, roads and bridges, dringking water and energy systems , sea ports and airports , and the infrastructure for a cleaner environment. Engineers use their knowledge ,skills,and creativity to design ,build, and maintain systems, structure, and technologies that improve our quality of life. BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR To assure that building regulations are met during construction. CAD TECHNICIAN To utilize their engineering, information technology, and mathematical knowledge and skills in designing buildings and other structures. CONSULTING CIVIL ENGINEER To give advice for the design,improvement and construction of the projects. CONTRACTING CIVL ENGINEER To make plans of the consulting Civil Engineers into reality. DESIGN ENGINEER they are involved in the initial concepts. Design ,development , ESTIMATOR Involved in the assessment of how much it will cost to provide the clients with the products and services needed. NUCLEAR ENGINEER To design, build, operate or decommission nuclear stations. SITE ENGINEERING Includes surveying the site in order to enable accurate production of the building designs. BUILDING SERVICE ENGINEER To design ,install, and maintain the services that allows a building to do what it is designed to. ENGINEERING GEOLOGISTS Assigned on the detailed analysis of the soil , rock, groundwater, and other natural conditions as well as the risk management of geological hazards like earthquake,sinkholes , landslides etc, to determine the sustainability of a site for construction. FIRE RISK ASSESSSOR To identify fire hazards and risks as well as to record the findings and advise for fire prevention. GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING To support the design and construction by conducting tests and analyses to assess risks to humans and to the environment. PATENT ATTORNEY to evaluate whether inventions are new and innovative , so that it is eligible to be patented. QUANTITY SURVEYORS Manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT To evaluate the impact a company is having on the environment and the reducing the impact and planning to use of limited resources
