Work in hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories and private practice. NATURE OF WORK RT use their expertise and knowledge of patient handling, physics, anatomy, physiology and radiology to assess patients, develop optimal radiologist techniques or plans and evaluate resulting radiographic images. The term Radiologic technologist is a general term relating to various sub-specialties within this field. 1. Nuclear medicine technologist 2. Radiographer 3. Sonographer 4. Radiation therapist 5. CT / MRI technologist PHILIPPINE COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY (PCR) It was in 1948 after the liberation when radiologists were formally organized as professional group by seven pioneers ( Magnificent Seven) 1. Dr. Paterno Chikiamco ( President) 2. Dr. Ramon Paterno ( Secretary) 3. Dr. Paulino Garcia ( Member ) 4. Daniel Ledesma Sr. ( Member ) 5. Dr. Carlos Marquez ( Member ) 6. Dr. Carlos Vergel de Dios ( Member ) 7. Dr. Hilario Zialcita ( Member ) FORMATION OF SCHOOLS AND ASSOCIATIONS It was more than 50 years ago after the accidental discovery of x-rays when the practice of radiology in the Philippines has been established. They were other active radiologists in the profession, Dr. Restituto Yuzon, Dr. Azcona and Dr. Macaria Roque ( the first Filipina radiologist in National Chest Center) FIRST FILIPINO X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST Felipe Somera , a nurse in PGH ( Philippine General Hospital ) assigned at PT, radium and x-ray section under the Department of medicine of PGH. FIRST SCHOOL OF X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST IN THE PHILIPPINES On September 9, 1969, the Dept. of Education , Bureau of Private Schools, approved a permit to open the first school of X-ray Technology at the Family Clinic and Hospital.
