The most prominent agents of socialization include family, schools, peers, media, religion, the state, and social and historical events. F a m i l y The family is the primary agent of socialization, shaping a child's development from birth through childhood. This is an agent because they are the ones who teach the youngsters about their attitudes, beliefs, behavior, culture and ideals. S c h o o l s Schools serve as the second home for children and play a significant role in their socialization. The school can be called an agent because they teach the interest, goals and knowledge throughout the worlds legacy to the young children as they grow up. P e e r G r o u p s Peer groups are composed of people who are similar in age, social status, interests, and background. This is an agent because peer groups can influence the attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs of its members. M a s s M e d i a Mass media is a type of communication that reaches large audiences, which includes TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the internet. This is an agent because it has the power to shape the attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and culture of individuals, groups, and societies. M a s s M e d i a Pluralist Model The pluralist model is a theory of democracy that emphasizes the importance of diverse groups and individuals in shaping political decision-making. It is an agent because it shapes and influences the way people view democracy and their role in it.
