Proposed speakers for CHS Citizenry and Character Education (CCE) Programme Title: (Less than 7 words) (Catchy - easy to remember) - idiom /Proverb - Pun (play of words) - Alliteration - Recycle Reduce Reuse Theme: Giving back to the community - Kindness Begets Kindness (idiom) - To pay it forward for returns (economics) - For happiness, kindness and graciousness (alliteration) Introduction: 1. Greeting + Self introduction: Good morning fellow committee members and schoolmates, I am Vivien Teow (Name) of the Level 4 CCE Ambassador of the Citzenry and Character Education Programme (CCE). (Designation/Position) 2. Stand: After careful consideration, I am delighted to propose Mr Mattheus Chong as the highly esteemed speaker for this year's CCE Programme. 3. Overall benefit: There is no doubt that Mr Chong would be the best speaker for the programme as he could inspire/encourage our cohort to give back to the community by sharing his journey as a paralympian and ambassador of the Singapore Disabilities Sports Council. (introduction of the speaker) Our school is known for producing one of the best sportsmen. By tapping into Mr Chong’s vast experience and knowledge, we can create a strong synergistic relationship (cycle) paying forward to the community with fun physical activities. Body 1 : Thoughts on the importance of this year theme 1. School History/Character Building Our school has a long standing tradition of helping the community and has continued to nurture responsible students to do so. As part of character building effort, this year the committee has decided on the theme “Giving back - it’s not just about taking”. 2. Country Growth Forgetting about the others The theme is a strong reminder for the younger generation to be appreciative of what we have and given. As an affluent country, Singapore has experienced rapid economic growth and sometimes we can forget those who have fallen between the cracks of the community. To build an inclusive community, our school is going to design and lead a series of physical activities for the disabled, rehabilitating and elderly community. 3. How our school and Mr Chong is a good fit Since our school is known for producing top athletes and national sportsmen, there is no better way to pay it forward with our expertise. By inviting Mr Chong, we can hear from his first hand experience and gather greater insights into how to approach the programme to ensure its success.
