NAME = KHAN SAEEDA ABDULAZIZ STD =9TH C ROLL =38 Topic = Environmental management Science presentation INDEX Disaster management Monsoon model and climate prediction changes in weather Meteorology Solid waste management DISASTER MANAGEMENT There are two types of disasters 1) natural disaster 2) man-made disaster 1) natural disasters like thunderbolts (lightning) , floods , fire 2) man-made disasters like accidents, bomb explosions , chemical accidents in industries, riots , etc A natural disaster may cause loss of life ,injury or other health impacts ,property damage ,loss of livelihoods and services , or environmental damage A “ man-made disaster “ is a big problem that happens because of some thing People did , like a huge spill in the ocean from a broken ship. A big explosion at a Factory due to a mistake which can hurt people and damage the environment MONSOON MODEL AND CLIMATE PREDICTION The tradition of forecasting the monsoon season in india is older than 100 years. The first monsoon model was developed in 1877 by H.F blandford, the founder of the india meteorological department (IMD) the model was based on snowfall in the himalayas. In the 1930s, sir gilbert walker, the director of ( IMD) , identified a connection between the indian monsoon and other global climatic factors CHANGES IN WHEATHER Climate does not change continuously. Climate is that which remains constant in a region for along duration. Thus we see that weather is related to a specific location and specific time whereas climate is related to a longer duration and larger area. Changes in the weather may occur for short periods of time whereas changes in the climate take place slowlyover a much longer duration. Climate plays a very important role in our day-to-day life. It influences our basic needs like food, clothing and shelter as well as our occupations. Various climatic factors like direction and speed of wind , temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc. Are considered during construction of runways , huge bridges, etc. METEOROLOGY The science that studies the inter –relationship between the various components of air, natural cycles, geological movements of the earth and climate is called meteorology. Meteorology includes the study of storms, clouds, rainfall, thunder, lightning, etc. Depending upon the study such factors , whether forecast are made. They are useful to common people like farmers, aviation services ,water transport and various other organizations. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT Many waste materials are generated through the various daily human activities. This is called solid waste. If these waste materials are properly disposed of, they can be a valuable source of energy. Currently solid waste is a world wide problem as it causes causes both water and soil pollution. Solid waste is also serious problem from the point of view of economic growth, environmental degradation and health We make use of many materials and articles in our daily life. They are of different kinds. Some of them are reusable but others have to be discard. However, if they are not properly disposed of, it effects the environment adversely. Tow types of waste are 1) biodegradable waste 2) non biodegradable waste as shown in figure DO’S DON’T Take out Your trash and recyclable separately Drink out of reusable water bottles and cups Mix your recyclable together with your trash Turn off electronics and lights when u r not using them Waste plastic and paper by drinking Of throw away cup Waste electricity CONCLUSION The use of environmental management tools allows institutions to anticipate and to avoid problems in a preactive rather than reactive way A methodical strategy for monitoring and regulating human activities with the purpose of preserving and protecting the natural world THANKS FOR YOUR PRECIOUS TIME
