Early childhood assessment and intervention aims to promote health, address and correct disabilities, improve social and/or family functioning, improve health-related quality of life and the functional ability of the child Shonkoff & Hauser-Cram, 1987 Sustainability is development that satisfies the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations, guaranteeing the balance between economic growth, care for the environment and social well-being 17 Which goals are related to Paediatrics? Provide suggestions/recommendations on how we can improve the implementation of SDG within our South African healthcare setting: Examples… Importance of implementing SDG (benefits)? Invest in community health workers to extend health care and support to vulnerable households. Increase the value of the Child Support Grant to meet children’s nutritional needs and ensure it reaches all eligible children. Establish a broad social movement to address the root causes of malnutrition, promote intersectoral collaboration and advocate for child health equity. What else? Any questions?
