I whole heartedly thank my project guide Prof. Md. Ekbal Husain for his consistent guidance, expert academic and support throughout the project, without his great concept and inspiration it would have been impossible. I thank my parents for their emotional and financial support which they provided during this project. We show gratitude to our Honourable Principal Dr. Praveen Pachauri for having provided all the facilities and support. AMIT SINGH (511492122011) ABSTA RCT The Smart Zebra Crossing project aims to improve pedestrian safety using intelligent technology. It incorporates sensors and LED lights to detect pedestrians and enhance visibility at crosswalks. The system can automatically alert drivers and control traffic signals to ensure safer crossings. By utilizing real-time data and smart algorithms, the project enhances traffic management and pedestrian protection, especially in busy or low-visibility areas. This innovation contributes to safer urban mobility and smarter city infrastructure. CONTENT CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 AIM 1.2 OBJECTIVE CHAPTER 2: COMPONENTS USED 2.2 REVIEW OF COMPONENTS USED CHAPTER 3: BLOCK DIAGRAM CHAPTER 4:CIRCUIT DIAGRAM CHAPTER 5: WORKING PRINCIPLE CHAPTER 6: APPLICATION CHAPTER 7:ADVANTAGES CHAPTER 8: CONCLUSION CHAPTER 9: REFERENCES CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION  A smart zebra crossing is an enhanced pedestrian crossing system using advanced technology to improve safety and efficiency.  Equipped with motion sensors or cameras to detect pedestrians and vehicle.  Intelligent LED lights embedded in the road to illuminate the crossing when pedestrians are present.  It provides warnings to both drivers and pedestrians about each other’s presence.  It adjusts traffic signals dynamically 1.1 AIM OF THE PROJECT The aim of the Smart Zebra Crossing project is to enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic management by using intelligent technologies, such as sensors and LED indicators, to detect pedestrians and alert drivers, ensuring safer and more efficient crossings. 1.2 OBJETIVE OF THE PROJECT 1. Enhance Pedestrian Safety: Implement technology to detect pedestrians and alert drivers, reducing the risk of accidents at crosswalks 2. Improve Visibility: Use LED lighting and other visual cues to increase visibility of crossings, especially in low-light or adverse weather conditions. 3. Automate Traffic Management: Integrate with traffic signals to control vehicle flow, ensuring vehicles stop or slow down when pedestrians are crossing. 4. Data Collection & Analysis: Monitor and collect data on traffic and pedestrian patterns to optimize crossing efficiency and inform city planning. 5. Support Smart City Infrastructure: Contribute to CHAPTER 2 COMPONENTS  Arduino Uno  USEDCable Arduino  Servo motors  Board sheet  Red Led Lights  Green Led Light  Jumper Wires 2.2 REVIEW OF COMPONENTS USED ARDUINO UNO * The Arduino Uno is an open-source microcontroller board based on the Microchip ATmega328P microcontroller (MCU) and developed by Arduino.cc and initially released in 2010. * The microcontroller board is equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards (shields) and other circuits. * The board has 14 digital I/O pins (six capable of PWM output), 6 analog I/O pins, and is programmable with the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment), via a type B USB cable. SERVO MOTOR The servomotor is a very important device for the projects. The servomotor consists of either linear actuator or rotator actuator. It is used for the purpose of precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration. It consists of suitable and fixed motor coupled to a sensor. CHAPTER- 3 BLOCK DIAGRAM CHAPTER-4. CIRCUIT DIAGRAM CHAPTER -5 WORKING PRINCIPLE The working principle of a Smart Zebra Crossing involves using technology to detect pedestrians and improve safety. Here's how it works: Pedestrian Detection: Sensors (like infrared, cameras, or pressure pads) detect when pedestrians are waiting to cross or already on the crossing. Warning Signals for Drivers: When pedestrians are detected, LED lights or flashing signals embedded in the road or on signs warn drivers to slow down. Dynamic Traffic Control: The system can adjust traffic lights or activate signals to give pedestrians priority, ensuring safer crossings. Data Collection: Some systems gather data to improve traffic flow CHAPTER-6 APPLICATION Urban Crosswalks: Enhances pedestrian safety at busy city intersections. School Zones: Increases visibility and safety for children crossing streets. High-Traffic Areas: Reduces accidents in areas with heavy pedestrian and vehicle flow. Smart Cities: Integrates with smart city infrastructure for efficient traffic management. Remote Areas: Solar-powered options provide reliable crossings where power supply is limited. Night time Safety: Improves visibility in low-light conditions with LED Lighting. CHAPTER-7 ADVANTAGE Improves pedestrian visibility and reduces accidents. Optimizes traffic flow by adapting to real-time conditions. We can restrict the accidents to happen. If any case happens, we can take action in the early times. Our scheme uses less energy. CONCLUSION Improved safety for pedestrians and vehicles. Possible traffic volume decreases, Small improvement to pedestrian safety, as it will cut down the risk of a pedestrian walking. Man Power will be reduced. REFERENCE J. Sampath kumar and k. Rajamani, “Automatic Detection of Zebra Crossing Violation,” In Proc.
