Hard work Kindness Respect Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) Curriculum We want students to be: both happy and successful. competitive against their peers locally and nationally have every chance for the highest grades possible in their GCSE’s. Next year we are reducing the number of options that students will take due to the sheer volume of information that has to be learned, understood and retained. Hard work Kindness Respect Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) Curriculum The change will be beneficial for pupil well-being, help with work-life balance and reduce exam-related stress and anxiety. We also anticipate pupils will therefore secure higher grades in the subjects they take. This reduction in the number of option subjects studied will also allow more time for English, Maths and Science across Year 10 and 11. Universities and employers: the number of qualifications we will offer (which are in line with other local and high performing schools) are more than acceptable. Hard work Kindness Respect Programme of study Students will study: a core curriculum of English language, English literature, mathematics and combined science (equivalent to two GCSE’s). at least one humanity (GCSE History and/or GCSE Geography) two additional option subjects Core PE and Core RE (both non- examined courses) Hard work Kindness Respect The rules! 1. You can do both Geography and History by choosing one of them as one of your two additional choices. 2. We recommend you choose a Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish) but it is not compulsory to do so. If you choose French or Spanish it must be the language you currently do. 3. Students should not pick both Computer Science and Creative iMedia 4. Computer Science is only for students in Set 1 Maths and Triple Science is only for students in Set 1 or 2 Maths.
