Course Outline AY 2024-2025 Program: Psychiatric Nursing Advanced Diploma Course: NRSG 111—Medical/Surgical Nursing Skills 1 Course Description: You will study types of microorganisms, their characteristics, and the relationship between the chain of infection, transmission of infection, and agents used to control microbial growth. You will describe differences between prions, viroids, viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. You will demonstrate fundamental psychomotor nursing skills in a simulated lab setting. The decision of whether to allow the use of ChatGPT and other applications in academic work ultimately rests with your instructor and is based on their pedagogical and disciplinary expertise. Please refer to the course page to understand the expectations of your instructor regarding the use of these applications in this course. If you are uncertain whether you should be using a computer application to assist in your academic work, contact your instructor for clarification. Assignments: All assignments, to be considered on time, must be submitted by 2359 on the date they are due. Assignments not submitted by 2359 on the due date will be considered late. Failure to submit assignments by the due date will result in a loss of 5% per day for up to 5 calendar days. After 5 calendar days, a mark of zero will be awarded. All graded components must be submitted to receive a passing grade in the course. The penalty MAY be waived, if the late assignment is accompanied by a documented reason, such as a note from a health care provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or mental health professional) or other validating evidence. If you require an assignment extension for a valid reason, please contact your faculty no later than one week prior to the due date so that alternate arrangements can be considered. You may be asked to provide documentation in the consideration of this request. Exams: All exams will be closed book, password protected, and written with Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitoring. Attendance for labs is required. If you miss more than 10% of practice education/lab experiences, you may not have the requirements to pass the course.
