House Voting When there is no more debate, the bill is voted on by a majority. If 13 of 24 Senators vote for it, the bill passes by a simple majority. House Committee Readings The bill goes through 3 readings to be discussed and debated on, Final Form of the Bill Once approved, the bill is produced in print and digital forms. Veto 250 members - Majority Vote: half + 1 = 126 members - ⅔ Vote = 166 members To the President Finally, it is sent for the President's consideration. The President has 30 days to sign or veto it. If VETO, it may need revision, or it can still become a law through another votation in the Congress. Pass If YES, the bill becomes law. LAW! A bill must be approved by both houses and the President of the Philippines. A bill may be vetoed (means ‘voted no’) by the President, but the House of Representatives may overturn a presidential veto by getting a ⅔ vote. If the President does not act on a proposed law submitted by Congress, it will become a law after 30 days. Review. 1. Lina has been living for 6 months in her District. Fill up the parts of your proposal in 1 short bond paper. Budget Officer: your work may be taken as an assignment for you to research the prices of the necessary items. You can search over the internet, or ask your parents about these. If there is nothing that needs to be brought, state there, “No Budget needed”. The class will convene a congressional session at the next meeting where the manager will discuss and promote the proposal. Afterwards, other members may ask questions or raise concerns. After the session, answer the following questions: ● Was it difficult to be involved in the law-making process? ● What problems did you have while drafting the laws?
