INTRODUCTION Metronidazole is a synthetic antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent,( l-β-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole. It belongs to the group of nitro imidazoles. Other members related to Metronidazole are tinidazole and others. Some books classified metronidazole as antiprotozoal and some as antibiotics and some others…. INTRODUCTION Metronidazole is a medication that is used to treat a variety of infections, including bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, endocarditis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, amebiasis, and dracunculiasis. Metronidazole works by disrupting the DNA of bacteria and parasites, which prevents them from multiplying and surviving. PHARMACOKINETICS Absorption Bioavailability: 80% absorption from GI tract (PO) Protein binding (
