MODULE 1 NSTP 1 Curricular Orientation This module will focus on the curricular orientation on the National Service Training Program (NSTP) its components, structure and basis of creation under the law. Likewise the FEU Tech NSTP Grading System and Program of Delivery. At the end of the session the students will be : 1. Section 2. Role of the Youth a. In recognition of the vital role of the youth in nation-building, the state shall provide civic consciousness among them and shall develop their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well being. As the most valuable resources of the nation, they shall be motivated, trained, organized and involved in military, literacy, civic welfare programs and other similar endeavors in the service of the nation NSTP – Service Components Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) A program institutionalized under Sections 38 and 39 of Republic Act No. 7077 designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. NSTP – Service Components Literacy Training Service (LTS) A program designed to train students to become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth, and other segments of society in need of their service. NSTP – Service Components Civic Welfare Training Program (CWTS) A programs or activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry. National Service Reserve Corps The National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) (Filipino: Panlaang Hukbo ng Pambansang Paglilingkod) The unit is composed of CWTS and LTS graduates. The members of this corps may be tapped by the state for literacy and civic welfare activities. In 2010 the NSRC was mandated and mobilized for the delivery of disaster risk reduction programs and activities. National Service Reserve Corps NSRC units are classified into two categories: Community Base NSRC Reservists Units (CBNRUs) unit Barangay, Municipal, City and Provincial School-Based NSRC Reservists Units (SBNRUs) Organized by CHED and TESDA GRADUATES OR RESERVIST NSRC / NDRRMC LTS OR CWTS Help in relief, evacuation, rehabilitation and distribution DND ROTC War/Defense CHAPTER 3 NSTP VMV The Challenge : Values of Tradition Values of Modernity Synthesizing Values Maka-Diyos Maka-Tao Precepts Guiding Maka-Bayan NSTP Actions Maka-Kalikasan NSTP VALUES Love God; Human dignity; Truth, goodness, and social responsibility; Innovation and creativity; Synergy and professionalism; Protection of the environment; Indigenous learning and conservation; and Quality service delivery. NSTP 2 can be comparable to The Philippine Jeepney COLORFUL PERSONALITY NON-DUALISTIC RESILIENCE WORLDVIEW PERSONALISM INGENUITY ONE UPSMANSHIP CHAPTER 4 Grading System Course: NSTP One (1) - CWTS 1 / One / 103 None Course: NSTP One (1) - CWTS MISSION To conduct capability enhancement for civic welfare services geared towards strengthening the values, and traits of the youth, develop social entrepreneurs, volunteers, and socio-economic mobilizing force, serving communities as value-driven innovators for progress and development while working closely with a network of organizations within and outside the higher education institution. VISION Recovery of the youth’s sense of patriotism and national pride, values and habits of discipline and hard work, integrity and accountability for nation building, volunteer in the enhancement of valuable and effective members of the National Service Corps of the Civic Welfare Training Service. GOAL To promote and integrate values education; transformational leadership; and sustainable social mobilization for youth development, community building, national renewal, and global solidarity. General Objective of the course To enhance and develop the civic consciousness, social abilities and skills of the students through various community and national welfare services. Specific Objectives of the course: 1.Participate actively in team building activities; 2.Manifest effective leadership / fellowship skills; 3.Organize community assemblies and linkages; 4.Assist in the implementation of civic welfare project; 5.Determine community problems & concerns and actualize viable intervention/s; 6.Show a high level of interest in community-building task; 7.Develop a harmonious working relationship with the community.
