## DISEASES CAUSED BY MYCOPLASMAS ### LITTLE LEAF DISEASE OF BRINJAL - **Causal pathogen:** Mycoplasma - **Host:** Brinjal *Solanum melongena* - Symptoms: The leaves and nodes of diseased plants greatly reduce in size. The plant gives a bushy appearance. Plants, having severe infection, fail to produce flower and fruits. The flowers commonly become phylloid. - Disease cycle: The disease is commonly transmitted through grafting. In nature, the disease perennates by infecting a large number of alternate or collateral hosts such as, bitter gourd, water melon, menthi, sunhemp, beet, castor, soyabean, etc. - Control: - Tetracycline therapy is effective.
