Pharmacy is a branch of health sciences that focused on the preparation and dispensing of medications to ensure safe and effective use by patients. Definitions 2) Health care team Health and social care workers involved with the care of patient. care of patient The Golden Triad Physician Pharmacist Nurse Definitions 3) Pharmacist The only one who is licensed to: a) Interpretation of prescription orders b) Compounding c) Labeling d) Dispensing of drug and devices Definitions 4) Dispensing Dispensing refers to the process of preparing and providing medications to patients. Dispensing ensures that the right medication, in the correct dose, is given to the patient as per the prescription. Definitions 5) Prescription A prescription is a written order from a licensed healthcare provider (such as a physician) for a specific medication, including dosage instructions. Pharmacists dispense medications based on prescriptions. Definitions 6) OTC Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medication are medicines that can be purchased without a prescription. They are typically used for common health issues like headaches or colds. Definitions 7) Drug Drug is a substance, usually in the form of a tablet, liquid, or injection, that is used to treat, or prevent disease. Definitions 8) Dosage Dosage refers to the specific amount of drug a patient should take at one time and how often it should be taken. Definitions 9) Drug Interaction A drug interaction occurs when two or more drugs or substances affect each other's effectiveness or safety when taken together.
