G E N E R AL O V E RVI EW WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE? WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY?  PHILOSOPHY PHILOS (LOVE) AND SOPHIA (WISDOM) LOVE OF WISDOM  Philosophy is fundamental values or some assumptions which form presuppositions that influence one's beliefs, decisions, and actions. Reflecting on and analyzing one's beliefs or reasons for actions or decisions could be a kind of philosophy as well.  A reconstructed belief or a value system which shows a universal and comprehensive character as a result of reflection.  Philosophy is also viewed as a study of subjects that can be understood by how they are talked about. In other words, philosophical understanding is not making some discovery about the world but deciding on how to talk.  Investigating the meaning of concepts or proposals of new terms in order to advance some area of philosophical inquiry. Critiquing the use of these terms; 3. A combination of both  PHILOSOPHICAL AND NONPHILOSOPHICAL SUBJECTS Philosophical subject matters to a reflective person. He believes and counts the subjects are real and might shape his or her life.  The second is the lack of general agreement on how the subjects of concern may be defined. Philosophers would agree that there is no one characterization for how a subject may be talk about.. There may be one definition that prevails, but so far, problems in philosophy are still problems because there has never been an absolute answer to questions on philosophical subjects.  What is knowledge? What is the nature of the self? Does God exist? What is the standard of beauty? Is there a universal morality?  Since philosophers agree that there is lack of general agreement to how philosophical subjects are defined, philosophy becomes an ongoing activity. Filipino philosopher Roque Ferriols, SJ, offers a simple way for us to understand what philosophy is. “Like all activities, philosophizing is something which is easier to do than define.” Of course, we can still begin with a definition of what philosophy is, something that we can daw out from a dictionary or from quotes circulated in the net.  In other words, if we use the dictionary approach to understanding what philosophy is, chances are we will only learn about it from outside.  To truly understand what philosophy is, we must immerse ourselves in it. -Martin Heidegger "Ang Pilosopiya ay isang paglalakbay, tara na't mag alsa-balutan." -Fr.
