Level of Organization in an Organism Life is organized into distinct levels, each representing a different level of complexity. These levels show how smaller components combine to form complex structures. The Five Levels of Organization Cell The smallest unit of life. Performs essential functions like metabolism, growth, and reproduction. Without cells, there would be no living organisms. Examples: Neurons, muscle cells, and epithelial cells. Tissue Groups of similar cells working together to perform a specific function. Tissues provide structure and support, and perform specialized tasks essential for the organism's overall function.. Examples: Muscle Tissue - Contracts to produce movement. Epithelial Tissue - Covers surfaces and lines cavities. Organs Structures composed of different tissues working together to perform specific functions. Organs enable organisms to perform necessary physiological processes, such as pumping blood (heart) or processing nutrients (liver). Examples : Heart - Pumps blood through the circulatory system. Liver - Processes nutrients and detoxifies substances. Organ System Groups of organs that work together to carry out complex functions. Organ systems, like the digestive or respiratory systems, integrate the functions of various organs to maintain homeostasis and ensure the organism's survival. Examples: Digestive System - Breaks down food and absorbs nutrients. Respiratory System - Facilitates gas exchange. Organism The entire living entity, composed of all organ systems working together. Examples: Humans, animals, plants. To Sum Up Each level of biological organization, from cells to organisms, plays a crucial role in keeping living things functioning. Cells are the basic building blocks of life, tissues are groups of cells working together, organs are made up of tissues to perform specific functions, organ systems are groups of organs working together, and organisms are complete living beings. They all work together to maintain life and health. Thank You Presented by Minaya, Bon Carl John & Baril, Bon Edrian
