SAP R/1 is the system with one tier architecture. ‘R’ stands for real time data processing. A Software mainly consists of three layers; > Presentation Layer > Application Layer > Database Layer In one-tier architecture (SAP R/1), all these three layers were installed in one server. The first module developed was Financial Accounting System. SAP R/2 SYSTEM SAP R/2 is the SAP’s mainframe product and also the first ever compact software package for the end-to-end business applications. It was introduced in the year 1979. SAP R/2 runs on mainframes such as IBM, Siemens, Amdahl etc., The last version of R/2 System is 6.1. SAP R/3 SYSTEM SAP R/3 is SAP’s integrated software solution for client/server and distributed open systems. SAP’s R/3 is the world’s most-used standard business software for client/server computing. R/3 meets the needs of a customer from the small companies to multi-billion dollar companies. The software is highly customizable using SAP’s proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. MYSAP Using the mySAP.com platform, employees, customers, suppliers, and other business partners can work together across company borders — anytime, anywhere. SAP outsources their electronic marketplaces and corporate portals to SAP Portals subsidiary. SAP ERP — ERP CENTRAL COMPONENT (ECC) In 2006 SAP introduces SAP ERP and shortly thereafter they purchase Business Objects, which makes SAP the market leader in business software, enterprise performance management, and business intelligence. SAP HANA SAP HANA is an in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system developed and marketed by SAP SE. Its primary function as a database server is to store and retrieve data as requested by the applications. In addition, it performs advanced analytics (predictive analytics, spatial data processing, text analytics, text search, streaming analytics, graph data processing) and includes ETL capabilities as well as an application server. - was previously called “SAP High-Performance Analytic Appliance”. SAP BUSINESS SUITE ON HANA SAP Business Suite on HANA is a Business Suite solution fully integrated with and optimized for SAP HANA as database. SAP S/4HANA The next-generation business suite. - It is a new product fully built on the most advanced in- memory platform today — SAP HANA — and modern design principles with the SAP Fiori user experience (UX). SAP S/4HANA delivers massive simplifications (customer adoption, data model, user experience, decision making, business processes, and models) and innovations (Internet of Things, Big Data, business networks, and mobile-first) to help businesses run simple in the digital economy. It provides 25+ industry-specific solutions used by many top companies including Apple, Walmart, Amazon, ConAgra, and Porsche among others. This is just a small sampling of the companies using SAP. PEOPLESOFT PEOPLE SOFT HISTORY OF PEOPLESOFT PeopleSoft was founded in 1987 by David Duffield and Ken Morris to launch their human resources application. Their mission was to provide software to meet the changing demands of the business world. Founded: 1987 Founder: Ken Morris and David Duffield Headquarters: Pleasanton, California, USA Owner: Acquired by Oracle Corporation in January 2005 Version: PeopleSoft 9.2, April 2013 HISTORY OF PEOPLESOFT PeopleSoft is an e-business software product line owned by Oracle. PeopleSoft originally offered human resources and finance applications. Over the years, it has added tools and applications for general business processes, such as materials management, and applications for specific industries, such as the automotive, communications and higher- education fields. It also includes workforce analytics capabilities to gain insights into employee performance and help inform HR decisions. FINANCIAL AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PeopleSoft FSCM is designed to help organizations manage their financial and supply chain operations. The platform provides various integrated solutions for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, asset management, budgeting, forecasting and cash management, plus supply chain solutions, such as supplier relationship management, inventory management and order fulfillment. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT To ensure that all hands are on deck toward achieving the company’s goals, businesses need to be able to monitor each team member’s performance. PeopleSoft enables employees and managers to provide development feedback anytime to anyone in the company. ENTERPRISE SERVICE AUTOMATION PeopleSoft ESA is designed for project managers, program managers, services controllers and department managers (Figure C). It’s ideal for project-focused enterprise organizations or departments, allowing them to manage projects through their lifecycle from start to finish. In 1979, the name of the company changed to relational software Inc. (RSI) and later on in 1983 the company was christened as Oracle with its headquarters in San Francisco. Damgaard was a Danish company which merged with Navision soſtware A/S in A/S in 2000 and the new entity was known as Navision A/S. Microsoſt corporation acquired this company in 2002 and this product is known worldwide as Dynamic A/X or Axapta and at present is available in different local languages making it a multi lingual product. MICROSOFT DYNAMICS SOFTWARE COMPONENTS DYNAMICS CRM A customer relationship management software package developed by Microsoft focused on enhancing the customer relationship for any organization. DYNAMICS AXAPTA A complete solution to manage and optimize all finance and operations processes effortlessly. It provides a centralized finance management solution with intelligence and embedded data analytics. DYNAMICS GREAT PLAINS Also known as Great Plains Software, is a Microsoft Accounting Software specially designed for small to medium-sized businesses. DYNAMICS NAVISION An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution built by Microsoft to aid business management. It is popularly knowns as NAV or Navision among ERP users worldwide. DYNAMICS SOLOMON Designed to meet the specific business management needs of project, service, and distribution-driven organisations.
