Science Class Let’s learn together! Work Plan Routines Review Discussion Push and Pull Attendance, 5S, Exercise Position and Motion Magnets Activities Wrap-up Book Activity Summary Routines Attendance, 5S, Exercise Review Position and Motion Position Is the place where something is located. Position tells you if one thing is close to or far away from another thing. It can tell you if an object is over, under, right, or left. We use prepositional words for places.. Examples: above / on top of / on. under / below / underneath / beneath. behind / in front of. between / beside / next to. near / close to / by. in / inside / within / into. out / outside / out of. How do things move? Objects move in many ways. Motion.. Is a change in an object’s position. Things can move forward, backward, or in a circle. They can even zigzag! What is speed? Speed is how fast or slow something moves in a certain amount of time. Different objects move at different speeds. Let us try!! Cho or we d la h: Discussion Push and Pull, Magnets What makes things move? 1. Things cannot move on their own. You have to use force to move them. 2. Force is a push or a pull that makes an object move. PUSH What is PUSH? Moves the object away from you. PULL What is PULL? Moves it towards you. REMEMBER: A push or a pull can change the position and direction of an object. What is GRAVITY? It is the force that pulls things toward Earth. When you jump up, gravity pulls you back down. If you let go of something, gravity pulls it to the ground. How are forces different? 1st 2nd 3rd 4th The size of a A big push A small push A bigger push push or pull makes an object can move a can move a moves things move faster and differently. light object. heavy object. farther than a small push. FRICTION What is FRICTION? It is a force that slows things down. Two things that rubs together. Have you ever drag your feet to slow down on a swing? If YES.. That is FRICTION! What is a MAGNET? It attracts things that have iron in Magnets do not A magnet pulls, them. attracts things or attracts, Iron is a kind of that are made some kinds of metal. of plastic, objects. rubber, or cloth.
