Banner Advertising - A type of display advert - Placed in prominent positions to generate clicks - Usually near the top or down the right-hand side. - Can be interspersed within content. - Banner advertisers match publishers who want to monetize their website with brands who want to reach their audience. - Google ads are the biggest, with access to 35 million digital properties. Pop Ups - Often the most hated of digital advertising - Appears over the top of content. - Often need to be closed (and can be hidden or hard to find the ‘x’) - Often try and trick you into clicking. - Multiple pop ups on pages - Highly visible and difficult to ignore - The message can be targeted and adjusted. - Often used for data collection with offers Floating advertising - Animated ads that appear / float onto a website - Last for around 5-30 seconds - Block the view of the page - Appear out of nowhere, have moving images and even sound. - Can resemble push notifications - Need closing or will float away. Interstitial advertising - Usually, a full screen ad covers the entire interface - Often in breaks during games, or levels - Placed between content - Highly visible and almost impossible to ignore. - Usually cant close straight away, so ‘forced’ to watch. Text advertising - Text only, simple messages. - Often on google results pages - Limited messaging as no images / video
