These rules exist to keep everyone safe. School ID’s: All students must wear their school ID, every day, around their neck. Please have your ID on when you enter the building. *Life Hack: Put your ID in the same place everyday so you don’t forget it! Hoods, Hats and Headphones: Hoods, hats and headphones are not allowed in the hallways. Please remove these items when you enter the building. Doors and Cameras: All doors are locked throughout the day, so no one can enter the building unexpectedly. There are cameras throughout the school, and at each door and our security team monitors these throughout the day, so we know that everyone who is here, belongs here. School Expectations Hallway Passes: All students must carry a signed hallway pass from their teacher, when walking through the halls during class time (this includes to go to the bathroom, to get water, to go to the nurse, main office or guidance office). We have Success Coaches who monitor each floor, to make everyone is where they’re supposed to be. They will ask you for your hallway pass to check the time, teacher, and destination. They are also there to help you! Smoking and Vaping: Of course, there is no smoking or vaping on school property. Every bathroom is equipped with silent alarms that detect smoke and vape of all kinds, and call security to the scene. Leaving the building: Students cannot leave the building during the day without permission. If someone opens a door before 2:30pm, a very loud alarm will ring! School Expectations (continued) Dismissals: If you feel sick, you must go to the nurse who will contact your family. You can only leave school if your family comes to pick you up, and you must leave with them through the front door, after checking out with the main office. If you have an appointment, your guardian needs to check in at the main office to pick you up. The main office will call you down from your class. What to wear to school: Choose your outfit to be both appropriate for school and comfortable for the temperature outside and inside all your different classrooms, bring layers! *Life Hack: Dress for the job you want! School Logistics Homeroom: EHS opens at 7:30am for students. Students can go to the cafeteria for breakfast. (*All breakfast and lunch are free for all students everyday!*) The first bell will ring at 7:45am. This means it’s time to clean up your breakfast and head to HOMEROOM with your Advisor. Homeroom starts promptly at 8:00am. If you are not present at the 8:00am bell, you will be marked Tardy. Homeroom ends at 8:07am. If you arrive after this time, you will be marked absent for the day, and your family will be called. A day & B day: Your 8 classes are split between two daily schedules: A day & B day. A and B days alternate. You have 4 classes on each day. Homeroom is everyday, and your Advisor will tell you what day it is. School Logistics Continued MyCAP Advisory & Intervention: Between Period 1 and Period 2, we have a special, short block of class time. On Mondays, this is called “MyCAP Advisory” with your Advisor (in the same room as your Homeroom). Here, you will use SchooLinks to create your Career and Academic Plan (CAP!) On Tuesdays-Fridays, this short period is called Intervention. You will rotate through your 8 academic teachers. Lunch Lunch happens during Period 3. We have five different lunch times. Your lunch time is determined by which floor your Period 3 class is located on. Be sure to ask your Period 3 teachers (A day and B day) or your Advisor, what time you go to lunch. Academics School Calendar and Attendance: The school year has 4 quarters. You’ll get a progress report and a grade for each quarter. You’re allowed 3 absences per quarter. On the 4th absence, you must schedule detention with your Dean to make up the time, or you’ll fail your classes. 3 tardies = 1 absence. Support in & out of the classroom All teachers stay late after school at least one day a week, and are available for extra help on schoolwork and assignments. Your guidance counselor is available for personal support, food, clothing & safety needs, schedule changes, college and career planning advice. Technology Cell phones: Cell phones are not allowed for personal use during class time. Some teachers will collect your cellphones at the beginning of each class. Others may allow you to keep it in your bag, out of sight. Chromebooks: All students are provided an EPS Chromebook. It is your responsibility to bring your Chromebook and charger to school every day. Chromebooks should be used for school work only. *Life Hack: Change your chromebook to your prefered language! Technology Continued Applications G-Mail - Check your school email every day! You’ll receive important school information from your dean, guidance counselor, or school leaders. You’ll also receive specific information from your teachers regularly. Aspen - Use Aspen (aka X2) to see your schedule, your grades, and keep track of your attendance. Clever - Homebase to access other classroom apps, like iXL and Canvas. Canvas - Where your teachers will post class materials and assignments.
