Encourage the expression of creativity and emotion through dance movements, allowing individuals to convey feelings and tell stories through their performances. WHAT IS CHEERLEADING? IS THE PERFORMANCE OF A ROUTINE, USUALLY DOMINATED BY A GYMNASTIC SKILL SUCH AS JUMPS, TUMBLING SKILLS, LIFTS AND TOSSES COMBINED WITH SHOUTING OF CHEERS AND YELLS TO LEAD THE CROWD TO CHEER FOR A CERTAIN TEAM DURING A GAME OR SPORT. THEREFORE, CHEERDANCING, IS ROOTED FROM CHEERLEADING. WHAT IS CHEERDANCE? CHEERDANCE IS COINED FROM THE WORDS: “CHEER”, AND “DANCE.” TO CHEER IS TO SHOUT OUT WORDS OR PHRASES THAT MAY HELP MOTIVATE AND BOOST THE MORALE OF A PLAYING TEAM AND PERFORM BETTER DURING A GAME. WHILE, TO DANCE IS A PHYSICAL ACTIVITY WHERE ONE EXPRESSES EMOTIONS OR GESTURES WHILE PERFORMING BODILY MOVEMENTS USUALLY IN TIME AND RHYTHM. WHAT IS BENCH YELL? A bench yell is a type of cheer often performed by spectators or team members who are sitting on the sidelines, typically during sports events. It involves vocal chants, cheers, and slogans designed to rally support for a team and create an energetic atmosphere. HISTORY OF CHEERDANCE AND CHEERLEADING? 100 YEARS 1898 AGO Thomas Peebles (father of 100 years ago American cheerleading) – Johnny Campbell – 1898 First Cheerleaders He 1st introduce the idea Cheerleader in history when he were males of synchronized yelling at directed a crowd in yelling football games “Rah,Rah,Rah! Lawrence Herkimer (Father of Modern Cheerleading) –1948 he stepped onto the scene and thus began the modern era of cheerleading. -He also invented the most – well known cheerleading jump “HERKIE” Lawrence Herkimer Cheerdancing and Cheerleading in the Philippines The Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) – started introducing the concept of cheerleading to the world in the 1980’s. 1990s Cheerleading began to flourish in the Philippines Here in the Philippines the most recognizable and watched cheer dance/ cheerleading competitions are the annual University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) CHEERLEADING DANCING POSITIONS FLYERS Flyers – Who usually females, bring excitement whenever they are tossed in the air. BASE BASE – the base is who will see at the bottom of a pyramid or stunt, lifting the flyer up and holding him or her while they are performing their stunts BACKSPO Backspot– throughout T the stunt, they are working to help the flyer keep their balance and should be the first to catch the flyer if they fall.
