Facilitated/guided study session held in a group setting Drop-in, free, voluntary Great way to cover course material and develop your study strategies/habits Today’s Agenda: o Introductory Activity o Activity 1 o Activity 2 o Activity 3 o Closing Activity Student Wellness Provides: Study Tips! 1. Go to your lectures o Take notes on your laptop or handwritten o Read your notes prior to class to review last lecture’s content o Look over your notes as soon as possible following the lecture o Mark things you are unsure to go over later o Identify gaps in your knowledge at the end of every lecture 2. Ask Questions o Professors want you to succeed so go to their office hours and ask them questions o Not a lot of students go to office hours so take advantage of that o Use the discussion board o Ask your new SLG friends o Use the textbook questions to practice o Make up test questions with your friends then quiz each other o Think of examples in psychology to help you remember o Mind map if a concept confuses you o Paraphrase lecture notes Avoid Cramming o Review lecture notes throughout the semester o Make summary pages of notes at the end of each week Take advantage of easy marks o For example, if you get marked on attendance in your seminars, go to them! o Although these marks may be small, they add up Good luck on your exams!! REMEMBER: Take care of yourself! Try to get good amounts of sleep, remember to take study breaks to eat, and try doing activities you enjoy like light exercise, or watching a funny show when you need to calm your mind
