First laboratory  Laboratory safety  some equipment used in the enzymes laboratory Diyala University/ Science College Enzymology/ Lab. 1 Dr. Abeer M. Jabbar Biotechnology Department M.Sc.Mustafa Thaar laboratory safety  Wear a lab coat.  Put on safety glasses.  Cover hair when dealing with incendiary materials.  Gloves and other protective gear may be worn as needed, depending on the nature of the experiment.  Avoid wearing sandals or open shoes when using chemicals to reduce skin exposure to these substances.  Avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic fibers; Due to their high flammability, these materials tend to melt and stick to the skin.  It is recommended to use protective glasses to protect the eyes from ingress of chemicals or direct exposure to gases.  Avoid wearing jewelry and any type of adornment, such as a chain or ring, especially when working with gears, motors, or rotating tools. How to write a regular laboratory report  Introduction: The name of the experiment and also the purpose of the experiment  The method of work shows the steps for doing the experiment. The steps may be identical to the practical book, and the work steps are written in the past tense. For example, the experiment may be as follows: Add 5 drops of test solution to 2 ml of a specific reagent.  Discussion and conclusion: The discussion should not be a repetition of the results, but rather a reasonable debate on the basis of the results. It is useful to formulate questions in the introduction to the experiment and benefit from their answers in writing the discussion. The discussions must be exciting, relevant, and purposeful.  Schedules and destinations It should be in the form of a table or a graphical form, depending on the nature of the results. The table must be numbered sequentially and given a title that includes complete information while standardizing the concentrations. 2 Diyala University/ Science College Enzymology/ Lab. 1 Dr. Abeer M. Jabbar Biotechnology Department M.Sc.Mustafa Thaar Identify some enzyme laboratory equipment:  centrifuge A centrifuge is a laboratory device that is used for the separation of fluids, gas or liquid, based on density. Separation is achieved by spinning a vessel containing material at high speed; the centrifugal force pushes heavier materials to the outside of the vessel. This apparatus is found in most laboratories from academic to clinical to research and used to purify cells, subcellular organelles, viruses, proteins, and nucleic acids. There are multiple types of centrifuge, which can be classified by intended use or by rotor design. From the large floor variety to the micro-centrifuge, there are many varieties available for the researcher. 3 Diyala University/ Science College Enzymology/ Lab. 1 Dr. Abeer M. Jabbar Biotechnology Department M.Sc.Mustafa Thaar To use a centrifuge machine: 1. Insert the test tube sample into one of the portals. 2. If needed based on the number of samples you are testing, insert test tubes filled with water for balance. 3. Secure the lid and select desired settings. 4. Start the centrifuge and wait for it to complete the cycle. 4 Diyala University/ Science College Enzymology/ Lab. 1 Dr. Abeer M. Insert the end of the electrode array into the MV/PH socket. Move the ignition switch to the pH position. Immerse the electrode in distilled water for a few seconds, then transfer it to a buffer solution, pH = 7. 6 Diyala University/ Science College Enzymology/ Lab. 1 Dr. Abeer M.
