Broad mare: A mare kept for breeding. Mare with foal: A mare and her foal running at foot together. Mare: Stallion Foal: Foal: a horse of either sex less than one year old. Suckling foal : A nursing foal Weanling foal: foal weaned at 4-6 months of age Colt foal: It is a male foal. Filly foal: It is a female foal. Yearling: A horse over one year and not exceed two years old. Colt: a young male horse over one year. Filly: A young immature female horse usually over one year old. Colt: Filly: Gelding (Geld): is a castrated male horse at any age. Gelding (Geld) Rig (Cryptorchid): male horse over twelve months in which one testicle has retained in abdomen and not descended in scrotum (Testicles normally descend into scrotum before 11 to 12 month of age). Rig (Cryptorchid): Double rig: A male horse over 12 months in which both testicles are retained in the abdomen and not descend in the scrotum. Double rig Equine (ē-kwīn) = horse, pony, donkey, and mule  Brood mare (bruhd mār) = breeding female equine.  Maiden mare (mā-dehn mār) = female equine never bred.  Barren mare (bār-ehn mār) = intact female horse that was not bred or did not conceive the previous season = open mare.  Wet mare = intact female horse that has foaled during the current breeding season.  Agalactic mare (ā-gahl-ahck-tihck mār) = intact female horse not producing milk.  Pony = equine between 8.2 and 14.2 hands when mature (not a young horse). Aged horse: A horse over 8 years but the term is commonly used to indicate older horse of 15 years or more. Aged horse: Cob Cob: Cob: A short legged horse. Pony Pony: A special breed of horses its sire is Pony and dam is she Pony. Pony Herd = group of equines. Band = group of horses consisting of one mature stallion, his breeding mares, and the immature male and female off - spring of his mares. ASS Donkey = ass = burro  Jack or jack ass = intact male donkey.  Jenny = intact female donkey Ass (Wild donkey) Donkey Donkey (Domestic ass) Donkey: male domestic ass She donkey: female domestic ass Mules Mule: Is a cross or hybrid between donkey and mare. Hinny or Jennet: hybrid between stallion and she donkey. Mules Hinny or Jennet Zebras Zebras Zebra: Several species of African equids united by their distinctive black and white stripes, Zebra stallion: male Zebra Zebra dam: female zebra. Zebra foal: young zebra.
