What are we for? Where are we heading? Remember, that YOU … are a unique and precious!  An original design by God our Creator! You were made in God’s image and likeness! Only man had God’s image and likeness! Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."  Each and every one of YOU! You should cherish this gift and uniqueness!  You should: Respect yourself Demand respect from others Be true to the Faith (God’s greatest gift to you next to life) Develop your God-given talents to serve him Appreciate God’s gift of your life’s vocation Vocation  Vocation -one’s divine calling to do a particular mission in this life  EVERYONE HAS THE UNIVERSAL VOCATION: All persons baptized are called to be saints.  Aside from the THE UNIVERSAL VOCATION: EVERYONE ALSO HAS A SPECIFIC VOCATION: The specific way you will achieve sainthood. To Marriage? To the priesthood? To a RELIGIOUS VOCATION? (monk, brother, etc.) …or to “Apostolic Celibacy”. Without being a priest or a monk/brother one gives up marriage to fully devote oneself totally in service of the Church and neighbor You are called to be a GIFT to others. No Quiz Time! Recap time! PUBERTY  PUBERTY A time of special change when your body will develop into an adult man body. But this is not a mere biological change like that of animals… Many other changes occur in you aside from physical and biological Mental and intellectual Emotional Spiritual Psychological  PUBERTY Is part of God’s plan for you! It is a period of change –Changes are good, necessary and part of God’s desire and design for you! Exciting time! But it can get confusing too(???!!???) What are the physical changes you notice? What’s happening?!  What about changes (intellectual, interests, emotional, etc.) GIRLS  God intended your hormones to do exactly what they do Each one is unique and different (different pace and time) This brings us to a very important topic now… What system actually changes and develops in puberty and adolescence?  The virtue of: Chastity / Holy Purity  Chastity means the positive integration of human sexuality within the person. Sexuality becomes truly human when it is integrated in a correct way into the relationship of one person to the other. Chastity is a moral virtue, a gift from God, a grace, and a fruit of the Holy Spirit. -Compendium of the Catholic Church, 488 1  Who created SEX? GOD! – He created the human person as male and female – He desired to share his creative power with humankind – He put pleasure in it so that man and woman are naturally attracted to each other to marry and form families  It is holy, sacred and pleasing to God. It is not something “dirty” or shameful It becomes evil when man misuses and abuses it going against the very purpose and design God has for it. 2  Chastity is a POSITIVE virtue!!! It’s not all about “NO” It’s not about “list of don’t’s”  Chastity is a POSITIVE virtue!!! It’s a JOYFUL AFFIRMATION! It’s a YES!: – Yes to TRUE LOVE OF GOD AND NEIGHBOR – Yes to TRUE RESPECT FOR OURSELVES AND OTHERS – Yes to TRUE HAPPINESS It’s about True Manliness  A pure person knows what true love is and what it means to sacrifice for God and others.  It is a joyful and happy virtue!  It is a virtue that shows true respect for self and others. We have to respect women since they are someone else’s Sister Mother Daughter or Wife  2 Points 1. Sex itself should not be seen as something evil or shameful. It is GOD’S CREATION AND GIFT TO MAN. 2. Chastity is a POSITIVE and HAPPY virtue  What is a chaste person? He has great reverence for the procreative power that God has given him, a holy awe that God should have desired to share his creative power with humankind. He sees sex as something precious and sacred, a bond of union to be used only within the limits of marriage and for the purpose established by God, never as a plaything, as a source of self-gratification.  PUBERTY IS A TIME TO: Develop virtues! Pray and ask for it – It is a gift and grace from God 2. Frequent confession 3. Frequent mass and communion 4. Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph 5. Studying and good use of time 6. Avoiding idleness and temptations – *Internet pornography/idle TV surfing – Prudence and virtue when it comes to relations with the opposite sex  During your free time: Have a plan (pray, sports, study, hobbies, friends, etc.) Make goals Have a schedule Clean your room/cabinet/house Get into a lot sports Start a hobby Learn a musical instrument Join review classes Regular confession (in the parish or Molave) When you surf the net… you also need to be safe!  Prayer to St. Michael St. Michael the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
