Then it enters the right atrium. Blood then goes through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. It leaves the heart through the pulmonary artery and goes to the lungs to become oxygenated. It returns to the heart through the pulmonary vein and enters the left atrium, and then travels through the mitral/bicuspid valve into the left ventricle where it is pumped out into the body through the aorta. **Hematology** Why are RBC red?
