Open mouth slightly as if sipping water. RMT places thumb on chin, then hits thumb. Reflex -- Mouth open or closes slightly. [Bicep Reflex] Cranial Nerve 5 Pointed part of tool Client is seated. Use thumb to find bicep tendon in the bicipital groove of GH. Keep thumb on tendon and hit thumb that is on tendon. Hold arm from the elbow and have their hand completely relaxed. [Brachioradialis:] Cranial Nerve 6 Flat side of tool Client is seated. Hit on tendon near styloid process of radius on lateral forearm. Reflex -- Radial Deviation. [Triceps:] Cranial Nerve 7 Pointed? Client arm is abducted and rotated medially downward. Hit above olecranon (1 finger width upward) Reflex -- Elbow extension. [Patellar Reflex (Knee-Jerk Reflex)] Nerve: Femoral Nerve (L2-L4) Tool: Pointed or flat side of tool Procedure: Client is seated with legs dangling freely. The therapist taps the patellar tendon just below the kneecap. Reflex: Knee extension. [Achilles Reflex (Ankle-Jerk Reflex)] Nerve: Tibial Nerve (S1-S2) Tool: Pointed or flat side of tool Procedure: Client is seated with feet dangling or lying prone with feet hanging off the table. The therapist dorsiflexes the foot slightly and taps the Achilles tendon. Reflex: Plantarflexion of the foot. **Pulse** Temporal: Slightly anterior to the external auditory meatus. - anterior of the ear Common Carotid: Lateral to the Thyroid cartilage. - asK client To swalloio lateral of Proximal Brachial: Just medial to the Coracobrachialis - Medial 2\" lower than aimpit 4. Brachial: Medial to the biceps Tendon. bicep tendon Abdominal: Slightly superior and lateral(to the left)of the umbilicus. - UP and left from belly button Radial: Just Lateral to the flexor carpi radialis tendon.
