***Contemporary Arts- Refers to all artworks created by artists that are living and are very representative of our times.*** ***Contemporary art is the art of today, produced by artists who are living in the twenty-first century. Their art is a dynamic combination of materials, methods, concepts, and subjects that challenge traditional boundaries and defy easy definition.*** - ***According to ARISTOTLE***: Art is linked to human instincts. Human beings are the most imitative of living creatures. - ***PAINTING*** - an attempt at imitating something (subject) - ***Medium*** -- the way the colors are chosen and blended into the canvas - ***Subject and medium*** -- two important elements of an artwork that allow a person to experience life, the world and its beauty. - ***Sculpture*** *-* three-dimensional artwork that may be created using stone, marble, wood and concrete - ***Architectue***-these are structures that meant to be used as shelter - ***Music***-this is the art form that appeals to the sense of hearing - ***Literature***- Art form of language through the combined use of words, creating meaning and experience - ***Theater/theatre***- art form of performance - ***Cinema***- art form is a technological translation of theatre. In films, special effects are utilized to enhance the storytelling. - ***Dance*** -art of human form where body is the main tool - FORM - LINE - COLOR - PROPERTIES - TEXTURE - SPACE - SHAPE - **Aesthetic Value**-refers to the value which causes an object to be a "work of art". This is a quality which appeals to our sense of beauty. - **Intellectual Value**- An Artwork stimulates thought. It enriches our mental life by making us realize fundamental truths about ourselves, about other human beings, and about the world around us. - **Suggestiveness**- This is the quality associated with the emotional power of art. Great works of art move us deeply and stir our feeling and imagination, giving evoking visions above and beyond the plain ordinary of life. - **Universality** - Great art is timeless ad timely. It is forever relevant and appeals to one and all, anytime, anywhere because it deals with elemental feelings, fundamental truths and universal conditions. - **Permanence-**A great work of art endures. It can be viewed again and again as each encounter gives fresh delight and new insights and opens new worlds of meaning and experience. Its appeal is lasting. - **Spiritual Value**- Art elevates the spirit by bringing moral values which make us better persons. The capacity to inspire is part of the spiritual value of art. - DANCE - ACTING - MUSIC - THEATER - CINEMA - PAINTING - DRAWING - PHOTOGRAPHY - SCULPTURE - ARCHITECTURE - DIGITAL ARTS - POETRY - FICTION PROSE - NOVEL - SHORT STORIES - NATIONAL ARTIST- An award that gives great honor to Filipino whose life and works have contributed to the advancement of the country's arts - Presidential Proclamation No. 1001 s. 1972 created and established "the Award and Declaration of National Artist - Fernando Amorsolo-first national artist; the world class painter.
