Authors from different countries, cultures, and linguistic backgrounds have created literary works. It encompasses a rich tapestry of writings that reflect the diverse human experiences, values, and perspectives across the globe. World literature often transcends national boundaries and explores universal themes that resonate with people from various cultural backgrounds. A. Literary compositions that have Influenced the World Bible Become the basis of Christianity originating from Palestine and Greece. The word Bible comes from Biblia, which means "the books". The modern English bible consists of 66 books about 40 men of diverse backgrounds who were inspired to write over 1500 years. The Holy Bible is the sacred scripture of Christianity, and it is considered by believers to be the inspired and authoritative word of God. It is divided into two main sections: The Old and New. The Bible has profoundly impacted Western literature, culture, and religious thought. The Koran The Muslim Bible originates from Arabia. The Qur'an is divided into 114 chapters (Arabic surahs) the obvious major units of scripture. The chapters are of varying lengths, from 3 verses to 286. The Quran is composed of Muhammad's revelations only. The Illiad and Odyssey Written by Homer Considered hallmarks of good literature. About the Mycenean or Bronze Age, ancient Greeks, who flourished from about 1600 -1200 BC. Mahabharata Longest epic in the world. Contains the history of the religion of India. The Canterbury Tales Chaucer's famous work is considered as a frame story or a story within a story. The frame narrative of "The Canterbury Tales" is set within a pilgrimage to the shrine of Thomas Becket in Canterbury, England. In which the pilgrims will have their own story to tell. The compilation includes tales of the knight and the pardoner, the miller, the nun's priest, and the wife bath. Uncle Tom’s Cabin Written by Harrier Beecher Stowe Bestselling novel of the 19th century and the bestselling book of that century, following the Bible. About White and Black Americans conflict. Is considered a key text in American literature for its social and political influence. It remains an important work for its role in shaping public opinion and influencing the discourse on slavery and human rights in the United States. The Divine Comedy It is widely considered one of the greatest works of world literature and a masterpiece of Italian literature. Emphasizes the importance of salvation and divine love. Thoroughly infused with Christian ethics that any overview has to touch on major Christian themes. A trilogy that starts from "Inferno", then "Purgatorio" and lastly, "Paradiso". Used from the beginning of the New Kingdom to around 50 BCE.
