## **Important Note** What is the difference between interpersonal communication and intrapersonal communication? ### Interpersonal communication Interpersonal communication is between 2 people like: * Talking with your friends. * Talking with your teacher. * Talking with the manager during the interview. _**Interpersonal communication:**_ It means talking to yourself in your own mind and this is the basis of your feelings and beliefs. For example: * When you think about what to eat. * When you think about something * When you think about another person. ## **Important things to do to make communication easy and clear:** * **Language of the message.** * **Culture of the country from which the receiver and sender are from.** * **The age.** * **General culture.** * **Body language.** ### Body Language * **Facial expressions** * **Eye contact** * **Tone of voice** * **Muscle tension and breathing** ## **For the message to be correct, it must be:** * **Clear meaning** * **Specific** * **Detailed** ## **Characteristic of Communication** Communication is: * A process * Dynamic * A complex process * A system * Irreversible ## **Forms of Communication** ### Verbal Using speech in face to face conversation such as: * Meeting * Interviews * Phone call * Conferences and speeches ### Non Verbal * **Written** * Formal: More complicated, requires planning and more time, and structured. * Informal: Less communication, less formal, spontaneous, punctuation, pictures. ### Para-verbal/Para linguistic * The aspects of spoken communication that do not involve words. * The vocal signals beyond the basic verbal message. * Convey meaning beyond the words and grammar used. For example: * Pitch * Rate * Quality of voice * Amplitude ### Non Verbal Communication * Employs gestures and body language. * Body language is the communication of personal feelings, emotions, attitudes, and thoughts through body movements such as gestures, postures, facial expressions, touch, smell, and positions among others.
