Use it with confidence and you'll be amazed at the results." **According to Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina** - "The Rosary is the 'weapon' for these times." **According to Pope Saint John Paul II** - "To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of Christ with Mary." **"Fiat Voluntas Tua"** - "Thy will be done!" - A continual reminder for our community to surrender to God's plan, which demands the act of dying to ourselves and trusting Him. ***Adoration** is for God; **Veneration** is for the Blessed and the Saints* **We Uphold Respect and Uniqueness** **Unique** - Came from the Latin word "unus," which means one. **Uniqueness** - "Forming the only one of its kind." **Uniqueness According to Church Teachings** **CFC 691** - Unique yet fundamentally equal - Physical differences, intellectual and moral powers. **How do we Experience Ourselves as Persons?** - As embodied spirits in **soul** and **body.** **Transcendent Dignity of the Human Person** - Humans have transcendent worth that comes from God. - This dignity is not based on any human quality, legal mandate, or individual merit. **According to Pope Francis...** - In no case, the human person should not be manipulated through ends that will hinder their development. - The person cannot be used for carrying out economic, social, or political means; authority. - "Living a moral life bears witness to the dignity of human persons." **The Human Person as the "Imago Dei"** - By his wisdom and love, God created human beings. - We are the image of God. **The Many Aspects of a Human Person** **Openness to Transcendence** - Freedom comes with **intellect** (true or false) and **will** (good or bad). **Uniqueness and Being Unrepeatable** - Self-understanding or self-knowledge, self-determination, and self-possession. - The word "I" - The human person is an intelligent and conscious being. **Respect for One's Uniqueness** - Unity of body and soul. - They have an openness to transcendence, uniqueness, being unrepeatable, and created in the image of God. **Why is Uniqueness Important?** - Being different is good because it establishes an identity. **Values to Consider** - **Love** and **Respect** **Communication** - It is a way of exchanging thoughts, feelings, opinions, ideas, information, or one's very inner self. - It involves a **two-way** manner of **generosity** to give or share and **openness** to receive. - It is more effective when communication is done in a **personal way,** where one can lavish the beauty of human emotions that are expressed in different way. **Jesus' Ideal of Communication** **Revelation and Faith** - In revelation, God freely discloses Himself to us in many ways like through the natural signs in creation, biblical signs in Sacred Scriptures, the Church ecclesial signs in liturgy and sacraments, and even in other religions. - Discloses himself through natural science; How Jesus reveals himself to us. - This God's free gift of Self-revelation for a **special friendship** with us needs an open and humble acceptance in **faith** on our part. - How we reveal ourselves to Jesus. - Jesus always prays before every major act of His public life. - Eg. Choosing of the Twelve Apostles, The Transfiguration, The Passion of Christ, Sermont of the Mount. **According to Matthew 6:5-6** - He said, "Pray for your persecutor"; "do not be like the hypocrites who love to stand on street corners, but when you pray, go to your **inner room**, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. - **Inner Room --** Jesus refers to it as the very heart of the person; pray wholeheartedly. **Constant Communication of the Holy Trinity** - The constant communication of the Father, Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, is the visible manifestation of the **Trinitarian relationship, a life-giving relationship** that sustains life and love for all people. - When the Father sends His Word (Jesus), He always sends His Breath (the Spirit); and there occurs a **joint mission** in which the Son and the Holy Spirit are **distinct** but **not inseparable.** - It is Christ who appears as the visible image of the invisible God, but it is the Holy Spirit who reveals him (CFC 1299). **Jesus and One's Prayer Life** - Jesus showed that one's prayer life must have a concrete significant effect towards social life and transformation. **Church's Teachings about People's Prayer Life\ **Growing in Constant Communication - Christian prayer is a **loving, conscious,** and **personal relationship**, with God, our all-loving, good Father, who has adopted us through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit (CFC 1475). **Prayer** - Involves total **openness** and **humility** on our part. Some people think that when they pray, they do some favors to God, but this is an **erroneous** idea. - Believers need to pray to the Lord not for God, but themselves. In our prayer, we **cultivate** and nourish our relationship with God from whom we owe everything good that we have. - Is **a grace**, which means that we cannot do it on our own. We can only pray if we are open to promptings of the Holy Spirit within us. - **St John Climacus** said that, "Prayer is not learned through the teachings of others; it has its own teacher, God, the teacher of all people who gives prayer to those who pray." (CFC 1479). - **Human emotions** are important in praying. The book of Psalms in the Old Testament cites how our emotions may lead us to authentic prayer. **Authentic Prayer** - Always rooted in the heart (inner room), and related to the neighbour in loving compassion and service (CFC 1480). - It is personal but not for private concerns alone. It always entails social dimension. - We cannot worship God in our churches and shrines and then disregard Him in the daily business of life (PCP II, 168). **The Church is One** **Pentecost** - Marks the beginning of the church, the Church that is One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. **The Church is One because...** - Each member plays a very significant part in building the Church, the Kingdom of God in process. - Not only the people, but all of us. **According to Gaudium et Spes (On The Church in the Modern World)** - The Church is the community of men and women "who united in Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit, press onward toward the Kingdom of Father and are bearers of salvation intended to all men. - Gender equality is present; men and women belongs to one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. **Doing our Part...** - In doing our own ministries and functions according to God-given gifts freely bestowed upon us, we make present the Trinity who is in Three Person, unique in their own, but one in being. - We are different, but united. - **To become the Salt of the Earth** and **Light of the World** - **Salt --** We as the followers of Christ are commended to help preserve humanity from falling to sin. - **Light --** We must illuminate the light from Christ to the world; to other people. **Points to Ponder** - In responding to this call, we contribute to the building of a Trinitarian relationship in our midst, a community life where there is **generoud giving, selfless sharing,** and **joyful receiving.**
