CHAPTER 8 TRY US THE HOUSE SEWER House Sewer The section of the horizontal drainage system known as "house sewer" is that which originates from the building's exterior and ends at the main sewer in the street or septic tank. A other code described house sewer as the section of the horizontal drainage system that begins 90 centimeters from the building's exterior. This section is also referred to as the building sewer. MAIN sewer The government provides funding for and maintains the Main Sewer line. Houses having main sewer lines on their streets are obliged to connect their home sewers to the public sewer line. house sewer connection to main sewer Using an electric drill or steel chisel that has been sharpened, a small hole must be bored through the concrete pipe connecting the home sewage to the main sewer. The hole is gradually expanded to take in the sleeve. It is important to take extra precautions to avoid breaking the main sewer's interior wall. The Main Sewer is linked to the House Sewer pipe either directly from the top or at a 45-degree angle. General Conditions in Installing Sewer Pipes 1. Secure permits from the sewerage authority. 2. Verify the depth of the house drain outlet. 3. Determine the depth of the connection with the main sewer in the street and the grade of the house sewer. 4. The depth is found by measuring the length of the longest branch of the house drain multiplied by the pre-planned pitch per meter. 5. Add the required 30 cm ground coverings from the top of concrete floor or 40 centimeters of ground covering without concrete floor. 6. Verify the depth of the connection to be made with main sewer. Remove the manhole cover on both ends. Measure the depth using a meter tape or stick. 7. The grade of the house sewer could be found through the difference between the House Sewer and the depth of the Main Sewer. A leveling instrument will give a satisfactory result. Additional grade can be made with the use of 1/8 bend considered as the most practical method of establishing grade Size of the House Sewer Sanitary authorities have determined the size of a residential home sewer for connection to a main or septic tank based on their installation test records and mathematical findings. Traditionally, home sewers have been equipped with 150 mm (6 inches) diameter cement or vitrified clay pipes. However, if plastic pipe or an equivalent with an internal surface texture is utilized, the diameter can be lowered to 100 mm, provided that the National Plumbing Code's basic guidelines are followed. PLUMBING DESIGN AND ESTIMATE The eficiency of a drainage installation depends upon the performance of the house sewer, and efficiency would increase by making good connection at the main. In selecting sewer pipe for hotels, apartment houses commercial and industrial buildings, the total discharges in terms of fixture unit are considered Likewise, the overlapping of discharges and the simultaneous use of the fixtures are also included in the calculations. thank you!
