Chapter 3 Research Design and Methodology Chapter 3 consists of into three parts: (1) Purpose of the Study and Research Design, (2) Methods, and (3) Statistical Data Analysis Procedures. Part One, Purpose of the Study and Research Design, restates the core problem and discusses the research design. Part Two, Methods, details the study's participants, data collection, procedures and data collection tools. Part Three, Statistical Data Analysis Procedures, Discusses the study's Methodology. *Purpose of the Study and Research Design* The purpose of this study was to get an empirically based understanding of the STEM teachers' challenges and coping mechanisms in Face to face Learning in the New Normal setting of Filamer Christian University, Roxas City school year 2023 - 2024. And, to explore the problems of STEM Teachers' both psychological and academic stressors, and their causes. This descriptive-correlational research study involved the teachers who undergo face to face teaching in this School year. The participants of this study were randomly selected STEM teachers of Filamer Christian University for the School Year 2022 -- 2023. Correlational research was a common research method and psychology and the social sciences, and it can be used to study a wide range of topics. Researchers might use correlational research to examine the relationship between personality traits and behavior. It is a useful tool for exploring relationships between variables and for testing hypotheses about the nature of those relationships. A descriptive correlational study is a study in which the researcher is primarily interested in describing relationships among variables, without seeking to establish a causal connection. Information and data gathering were based on the responses of the teachers who cooperated and participated in the conduct of this study research. Purposive Sampling Method was used in identifying and selecting STEM teachers. The independent variable in the study was the STEM teachers' challenges and the dependent variable was the coping mechanism. The statistical tool used for the analysis of data were Mean, Standard Deviation and Spearman Rho. All inferential tests were set at 0.05. *Methods* *Participants* The participants of this study were the total population with twenty-seven (27) of Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) teachers of Filamer Christian University of school year 2022-2023. This study employed the total population which is a type of purposive sampling technique that involves examining the entire population that have a particular set of characteristics. Most of the time, researchers consider this as their sampling method because the entire population is so small and well-define, and a fraction of which may no measure what is required. It can eliminate any potential bias occurring through sampling technique, but other than that it is really not justified to consume more resources and time (Kothari, 2004). Include the table of profile of the respondents... *Data Gathering Instruments* The data gathering tools consisted of an adopted and modified STEM teachers' challenges questionnaire and coping mechanism questionnaire. Along with these instruments was a personal data information sheet for the teacher-participants to complete. The researchers used the questionnaire of Erojo (2021), Challenges and coping mechanisms of Junior High School Teachers of Bungsuan National High School. *Personal Data Sheet (PDS).* Includes with the participants' information which was necessary for the investigation. *Teachers' Challenges Questionnaire.* 15-item teachers' challenges questionnaire by Dela Cruz (2021) was employed in determining the Challenges of STEM teachers of Filamer Christian University. Each response to question was assessed using the scale system section. Using a five-point scale, the items were answered with any of the following responses. *Scale Responses* 2 Disagree 1 Strongly Disagree To describe the Teachers' Challenges in New Normal, the scale below was used: *Coping Mechanism Questionnaire.* The 15-item coping mechanism questionnaire by Lilao (2020) was employed in determining the coping mechanisms of STEM teachers of Filamer Christian University. Each response to question was assessed using the scale. *Scale Description* To describe the Coping Mechanisms in New Normal, the scale below was used: *Data Gathering Procedures* In gathering the needed information, the researchers followed several steps. First, the researchers secured letter to the Research Adviser and principal of Filamer Christian University Senior High School requesting validation and permission to utilize STEM teachers as study respondents and to conduct the study on the scheduled date. Upon approval, the researchers distributed the printed questionnaires to STEM teachers to determine the challenges and coping mechanisms in face-to-face learning in new normal questionnaires. Retrieval of research instrument was done immediately to ensure one hundred percent turn-out. Prior to the distribution, the researchers formally brief the participants on the mechanics of the instruments, the intent of the researchers conduct the study and the benefit the participants might derive from the study. Further, the confidentiality of the information supplied by respondents was observed and its secrecy was respected. Data obtained from the study were processed, encoded, and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
