SUMMARY CHAPTER 7 Employee Engagement Employee engagement is a state of employee that describes his level of enthusiasm, dedication, sense of belongingness that he feels towards his job function. Engaged employee contributes to organization o the success, sustenance, and growth of the company. He is dependable, work envisioning larger vision of the organization, contributes more meaningfully to strategic objectives and helps the organization to stay competitive in the market. Employee engagement profiles are disengaged, barely engaged, moderately engaged and highly engaged. Stages of employee engagement are primary need satisfaction, contribution and viewpoints, a sense of belonging and room to grow. Myths about employee engagement are happiness leads and satisfaction leads to employee engagement, employee engagement is inward centric, based on salary and is ever lasting and it is not a strategic initiative. Role of HR in employee engagement:HRM act as doorkeeper and create conditions conducive to employee engagement, forms bridge between culture driven by top management and the climate to promote employee engagement.
