It will provide an overview of the "scientific" aspects of management, focusing on the knowledge of basic management concepts and the history of its evolution. It is also considered as a way to lead an organization, to direct it, to plan its development, and to control it. It applies to all areas of activity in the company. - From this definition of management, we can see that everyone, regardless of their role or profession, is concerned with management. - The management process exists in all organizations that are striving to achieve a goal, whether they are in the private or public sector, and whether they are part of the capitalist or socialist system. ### What is management? Management is the profession which consists of conducting, in a given context, a group of men and women who have to achieve common objectives in line with the organization's goals. ### Management is a profession that is: - An activity, a practice that brings together a set of technical and relational skills. - It is practiced with and for other people (collaborators, superiors, colleagues...). It is not a solitary profession. - The goal of management is: to lead, to command, to coordinate, to involve, to animate. - In a given context: it consists of: the economic environment, political, social, with its constraints and its opportunities, the culture, mentalities, traditions, and religion. ### Finality The finality is a lasting goal with an imprecise deadline, which a company pursues. Company goals are often defined by the question "What do we want to become?". The finality has two functions: to contribute to the cohesion of the company and to guide strategic decisions. The definition of the company's purpose is a prerequisite for the setting of objectives, as these are merely a reflection of its purpose. ### Objective An objective is a concrete and achievable goal that is sought to be achieved within a set timeframe. - It can be quantitative (achieving 10% market share in three years) or qualitative (improving the company's image). - It should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and defined by a timeframe. <start_of_image>ことです。
