They help control bleeding by applying pressure to the wound site. Reduces Pain By stabilizing the injured area, bandages minimize discomfort. Provides Support Bandages offer support to muscles, bones, or joints during healing. Composition of a Bandage Bandages are composed of three layers: Primary / Contact Layer Telfa Pad Hydrophilic Dressing Secondary / Padding & Comfort Layer Cast padding Roll Cotton Stretch Gauze Tertiary / Holding & Protective Layer Vet wrap Elastikon Steps to Place a Bandage ​ 1. Apply anchor tapes (Stirrups) 2. Apply Primary (Contact) Layer 3. Apply Secondary (Padded/Conforming) Layer 4. Apply Splint 5. Reflect, twist, & adhere tape stirrups to gauze 6.
